MikesRJ 552 #1 Posted September 7, 2009 As the question goes, was the word "KOHLER" on the K90 flywheel shroud painted white, WH Linen, or not at all on the original RJ58/59 K90 engine? Both of my K90's, which are not original WH engines, have the Kohler word painted, but would like verification before doing so on the WH Spec. engine I am building. TT-(Moderator) 1,127 #4 Posted September 7, 2009 They're definitely painted on this one: I'm pretty sure they were done in silver though -- not "off-white".
VinsRJ 721 #5 Posted September 8, 2009 I vote.... Paint It! No matter if its original, adds eye candy. :scratchead:
buckrancher 2,675 #6 Posted September 8, 2009 I had to go and find all my k91 engine's I have 5 motor's one was repainted by the p.o. three were factory kohler no paint on the lettering but my RJ in a box has it's original motor and it's a old one before WH started putting casting date's on the center transmission case It's a k91T and the lettering was painted but I can't tell the color (off white or sliver)? So I would say to paint them also
sorekiwi 761 #7 Posted September 8, 2009 There was a thread about this a while ago. I'll try to find it. OK, so I was half right (or half wrong!!), the thread is about later model horses, but I'll link to it for reference. About 1/2 way through this thread: http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/index.php?showtopic=936&hl= EDIT: Link to the correct post!

MikesRJ 552 #11 Posted September 9, 2009 OK, that was helpful. It does appears that the "Kohler - USA" lettering is silver or gray. I understand the "remove the red soon after the painting process" and it might have actually been primer or an undercoat color. I can imagine from the Kohler engine colors that it is most likely silver, as that was one of their commercial engine colors. Can anyone confirm which it was?
