sawhorse 0 #1 Posted July 26, 2009 With a box blade tine as described on the endtimes report garden tractor gardening web page. http://s930.photobucket.com/albums/ad149/s...h_subsoiler.jpg I fabbed it up and my buddy welded it for me. Notice the bar that holds metal plates for down pressure. It takes between 25 and 50 pounds to break down into my clay soil.

sawhorse 0 #3 Posted September 9, 2009 CaptBob, My subsoiler is constructed of steel, and was easy to make. I got the box blade tine (the black steel part) from agri-supply for around $15. Your local tractor dealer should come close to matching that price. The tine came with four holes. Once you get the tine, you could attach it to an old brinly plow frame or construct your own brinly style hitch. My subsoiler frame is steel c-channel that the box blade tine fits snugly inside. The brinly hitch attachment part was cut out of some large box channel steel. Basically, it needs to fit over the brinly hitch and have two 3/4 inch holes. The box blade tine is secured into the c-channel with some big bolts. I would have constructed the frame differently. I would have made the reinforcing triangle shallower in depth. But the threaded bar from the weightlifting equip. was a good addition to the back. It will accept several 1 inch weightlifting plates, driving the tine deep into the dirt. This thing helped me grow some great sweet corn this year. Corn roots and go very deep. Here is a better quality picture than in my avatar.
