The real problem is...nobody is going to read 25 pages of junk to see how Dan did some of the things he does.  

   That is the problem with these large threads.  Lots of good information is lost in the junk and gone forever.  A thread like this is never going to get into the reference section.

Get no argument out of me on that Steve... hence the reveals. Is abit fun tho. 

Ok idea here fellas once all the BS has been dealt out have a mod go back and shovel poop aND delete..... if the member so desires of course. Just like the classifies. We get our jollies and rocks off and the forum gets an informational resto.

Once it's over and done, can the thread be edited so all the baloney can be eliminated, to make it a more meaningful one?

@rjg854 Yes it could, but Karl does not like to delete things and besides, it is a pain in the butt to clean that much up.  It would be better for Dan to do his whole resto and then start his thread with all of his information.  I've done this a few times in my Transmission threads for this reason.

Understood Steve I was going to start a thread in suggestions about this dilemma  but I think you just answered it. I will shut up now you tell me too Dan and pound the snot out out of the others if they dont either you wish!

Todays fun adventures. I ended up finding some kinda good news and some not so good news. I'll start with the good news. I cracked open the tranny to see how much damage the water had done.

 

Pleasantly surprised when I opened it up. As I suspected, I don't think the water has been in the transmission very long. 

 

The water did lead me to open it up though and I did find a couple of gears that I will want to replace.

 

Every thing has been degreased and is patiently waiting for some seals, a couple of bearing and a couple of gears.

 

The not so good. I pulled the head to de-carbon it and see what kind of shape the cylinder was in. Well with this amount of piston wash it would need a re-ring job at the very least.

 

Then I pulled the piston to find this nice little surprise inside of the cylinder. 

 

After taking measurements, here are the results that I came up with. The bore measures up well, less than .001" variance in the bore but the rough spot will have to be machined out. Will have to go at least .010" over to fix that issue. Measured the crank pin only to get more disappointments. The crank pin is .003" out of round. Sooo, that will have to be turned down to fit a .010 under sized rod.  I have the block stripped down and it is patiently waiting for parts and a trip to the machine shop.

 

 

A few disappointment's today but I won't let them get me down.  The build must go on.

There was some sort of a hitch welded on there. I cut it off right after I got the tractor, had for got about the remnants until I took it apart.

Wow that's somewhere to put a hitch it may be quite effective but on That metal may not.
