I have a car show at Mrs. P’s work place in 11 days.  She wants the Snowmowtractor in the back of Ole Smoky with the magazine articles.  I think I might just piece it together to look like it should work and call it a day!

I found a piece of 2” aluminum tubing to slide inside the heavy pipe that holds the fender on.  A couple bolts here and there and a spit shine and it’s ready for Thursday’s show!

This winter the museum had this T running throughout the grounds during their vintage snowmobile show.  The sound was very much 8N tractor.

I just listed this engine for sale locally.  Am I dumb to keep trying the snowmobile clutch stuff?  I have a whole bike frame, electrical, etc.  13k 9k redline, 6 speed, chain drive.  Simple.  Clutch and throttle from the bike, swing arm, done.

My only concern would be cooling. Obviously air cooled like a Kohler, but designed for massive airflow from highway speeds.

I don't suspect Kevin will be sitting still very long when that thing is running!

But they were riding them around a city with stop and go traffic too.

Chain drive it right to that brake shaft.

And factor in colder weather riding… I wouldn’t imagine much issue.  How’s that work with jetting?  Colder= more fuel?  Another cooling feature of gasoline.

The brake shaft would reduce it 4:1 or so, and backwards.  The swing arm from the bike could probably be modified to run a live axle and suspension however.

 

Now, I found proof of the 13k redline thing being incorrect.  But 9 grand is still whipping good.  I could easily stand not running this at 140 mph if the speedometer is close to possible top speed.  A big rear sprocket or a SIMPLE jackshaft could get that to 60-70 with ease I bet.

Oh that's right. You used that older trans. A newer 8 speed would have the correct direction

Gear reduction is honestly the last of my worries.  I guess I need to suspend the for sale listing!

Well, there goes me purging!

Not much to do waiting on deers.  Looks like a stock front sprocket is 15 or 16 teeth, depending on where you look.

 

I have found as small as 13T.  That’s 15-23% reduction in speed.

 

Google machine says 112 top speed.  That’s 86-97 mph final, tire size not corrected.  That leaves about 30% to take out.

 

it seems a 50T rear is stock.  It seems a 71t from a dirt bike would get me to where I need to be!

Other things will likely keep me from this project.  I haven’t done much work in my “chop shop” insulated room but I stuck the entire bike in there.  I thought the bike would be a perfect bench to get the engine running.  Some day.

Camp buggy is collecting dust.

I snagged 2 identical basket case snowmobiles with matching tracks.

Thought I would do a half track version WH. That's collecting dust. They are on my someday list.
