I snugged up the steering arms by drilling and tapping between the spindle shaft and the arms.  Good-N-Tite!  I also took the time to install a nut on the other end of the U bolts holding the grill down.

I was just thinking.  I have a $200 tractor, running $1500 rear rolling stock!  :ROTF:

Funny story about those tires.  The buggy used to have tubed old junk paddles.  They were torn up and spun a lot.  Perfect for an underpowered VW 1641!  Once I stuck the Subaru engine in, I brought a buddy a couple hours north one day for a “quick” trip to the dunes.  We both had places to be that day.  Our first run out onto the dunes, we blew a tube, or tire, or something.  There are buddy stores, dune truck stores, at stores, nobody could help fix our issue.  One store had tires new, but didn’t service old.  Quite the business model I guess!  Another store about 20 minutes away had buggy wheels but no tires.  We went and ordered the wheels, brought them back to the tire store, went to mount them, realized they were the wrong bolt pattern!  I had 4 lug hubs on the car and small 5 lug adapters, but the wheels were wide 5.  Back to the buggy store, for adapters, lug bolts, lug nuts, etc.  spent most the day buying crap and about a month later, I blew the engine a little.

Here’s my buddy driving the car.  I was teaching him to drive a stick shift and teaching him how to jump!

Kevin here is some more fuel for the fire (or desire).  Maybe build a second one with tracks.

Thanks for that link @Darrenw85!  I like seeing the skis almost directly under the kingpin.  It kind of solidifies my thought that I’ll need to do a little better front axle design work before I unleash this one.

Just a thought... What about doing the skiis like they do on airplanes - keep the wheels on and skiis go under the tires...

Kinda like this

My wife and I landed on the Ruth Glacier - Mt. McKinley (Denali) - in Alaska on on one of them... Pretty cool...

Just thinking...

Cold enough, that the mixture of antifreeze in the system doesn’t hold a candle to the temperature it is?

@Pullstart can a primary clutch be used without the secondary cluch? What's the rotational differences between the engine and trans with the snowmobile engine output being on the opposite side?

Being that they counteract each other to keep the belt length the same, I’m not sure how that would help much.  I could possibly measure the centerline of the two shafts, then flop ‘em.  Give the driven shaft a new home the same distance from the crank.

Maybe I am missing something...

SO... does the Polaris use a v-belt drive?

I could have sworn that those used chain drive... or cogged belt...

How does that fall into place if you used the Poly motor?

I can't seem to find the build vid I'm looking for.

Seems as though I saw a build where only the primary was used in conjunction with a spring loaded tensioner to drive a rear with a pulley.

I will keep looking for it.

I believe they are belt drive to the secondary clutch. Then chain drive to a clogged shaft to turn the track.

While you do that…. I’ve got some work to do.

Looks like I’mma gonna need that info soon there @Oldskool.  I just had an “ahh hah” moment.  The engine mounted in the sled is backwards to what would mount in the tractor.  With that said, I no longer need a Jack shaft to transfer the power to the passenger side of the tractor as Uncle Jim would say.
