Happy Tecky

I pulled this '70 Raider 12 out of a barn this week.

I wasn't sure about the Tecky, but it had some goodies that made it worth bringing home.

A good headlight and lens.

A good hood ornemant.

A cigar lighter that works.

A slot hitch that actually has a free pin.  Someone added a grease zerk to the lug on the tranny.

I pulled the tins and found the normal clogged cooling fins.

Cleand up the Tecky.

She was smiling while she got a bath.

Some fresh fuel, a battery, and a carb tune and she runs, drives, and mows like a new one.

She still needs the steering block repaired or replaced, and some seat cushions.

The goal today was to get the broken steering block off for repair.

The broken ear game off easy, but the set screw in the thrust collar was frozen.  I need to slide the collar down to get the shaft out of the block.

Probably going to end up drilling out the set screw.

I worked on the deck while the collar and set screw soak in PB.

No holes in the deck, but the belt tensioner was rusted fast to the deck. All cleaned and greased.

I gave up on the thrust collar set screw.   Decided to build a cage around the broken bearing block.   I discovered both bolting flanges were broken .

Using a piece of 1/16"  channel above and below the   block, it really snugged up the steering.

After giving the deck the  @peter lena oil soak,  I put the deck back on and mowed the lawn.

The Tecky was smiling all day.

I was wondering what happened to that piece of "Uni-Strut" !  Glad it went to a good cause!  Good thinking Ed!

Looks like " Hey! Charlie took a bite! "
