@pullstart I think that it's genius!! :handgestures-thumbupright: Been thinking about doing the same thing. Kinda thought about also finding a damaged camper trailer to rob every thing out of for the conversion.

If you wanted a long A$$ bus. Why not one of those cool city accordion busses. The got those awesome front lowering systems and the pneumatic doors. :)

great perks, but not so road trip worthy.  City makes sense... slow speed.

@pullstart Just watched your video again.

As for the tranny not having a park position. Given the fact that this bus has air brakes there really is no reason to have park. Once you release the air from the system by pulling the parking brake knob, it will not move until the brakes are pressurized again. The work around for this if you decide to do a transplant - A manual parking brake on the drive shaft would work well. Example : Our IH 4700 has a cable operated disc brake set up on the drive shaft, you will burn the clutch out before the truck will move once the parking brake is set.

You also mentioned that the yellow paint was faded. If you decide to keep the bus, the chrome yellow & black paint job will have to go any way.  This paint scheme can not remain on a bus if it will be used for a purpose other than a school bus.

In NY paint can remain. All warning lights and school ID are blacked out or removed.

It'll probably end up all colours of the rainbow and covered in pretty flowers. Like a VW micro bus on steroids.  :music-rockout:

Hello world, here's a song that we're singin'
Come on, get happy
A whole lotta lovin' is what we'll be bringin'
We'll make you happy
We had a dream we'd go travelin' together
And buy tractors if we'll keep movin' on
Somethin' always happens whenever we're together
We get a happy feelin' when we're riding a horse
Travelin' along, there's a song that we're singin'
Come on, get happy
A whole lotta lovin' is what we'll be bringin'
We'll make you happy
We'll make you happy
We'll make you happy

Yes, this is the way it is designed, but if brakes are out of adjustment or need other service, then they may not hold.

That is why you ALWAYS SHOULD chock your wheels when parking an air brake equipped vehicle .

Agreed. Although I don't always do it.

In fact on a HAZMAT vehicle it's a law to use chocks.

Having passed inspection recently they certainly should work fine.

Just as a point of interest you may already know... If the "spring brakes" or parking brakes aren't working you CAN NOT drive the vehicle legally. Anywhere. At all. Even to repair. It must be done on site.

I always loved this bus' Mondrian-esque theme of color blocks with dark borders.

Was lucky to catch an exhibition of this Dutch artist's work over his career. Most know him only for the abstracts but he also painted landscapes and portraits to generate income to support his family.

This is one of his most celebrated pieces.
