Funny. No hitch.

I had an International service van when I was at the mouse house. It was a V-6 turbo automatic. Just over 1K miles it puked a transmission. Electronic contols went out. Engine was a dog. I agree that the Cummins reliability would be nice to have under the hood. 7C363BEA-46EE-4878-9451-002318BF8E92.jpeg.c7c15cb4bd7b62ca2efad06e5980fa33.jpeg

this would be cool though.

Make sure it's out of warranty before you start the deletes!

I was thinking about something like that too on the way to Portage.  This bus was actually Mrs. P’s idea... not mine.  I’m waiting to hear back from the auction company on payment details.  There are ways to save 4% by wire transfer vs card payment.  We have 48 hours to pay, then need to schedule pick up.  Everything is in working order and passed the DOT inspection this year.

I have to check... industrial engines are a bit vague.  Hopefully all that crap is omitted from the get-go!  If this works out, we may just keep an eye out for another in the future for a Farm Truck Swap.  Better yet, just put the pickup body on the bus frame and build out the flat bed!

That looong tail swing behind the axle might make pulling a trailer kinda interesting. :eusa-think:

Good point.  So if we shorten it ever, we’ll have to bob the frame a bit.

I would think long out of warranty .... any idea what generation it would be? 2010 - 2018 4th gen, 2007.5 -09 3rd. Doubt it would be older than '07??

One of the gens they had problems. Don't remember which tho. They tried to improve it but it went the other way on them. Could have been 3rd hence the short years of that generation. Crank oiling issues or something and was a recall... CRS! Might have been just engines built for Dodge tho???

Did a little reading on https://www.skoolie.net/forums/

Seems there are a few horror stories about getting the title changed on bus conversions in MI. Don't let the DMV try to talk you into an "assembled" status, they will want to change the VIN this way and it causes some issues. Flooding the DMV with pictures and receipts when you go in seemed to help a few people out with changing the title from "Bus" to "RV".

Is this bus conversion going to be an alternative to the toy hauler??

Leave it long and build a double decker Wheel Horse hauler on the back. Use a fold up lift on back for loading on both levels.

That's an awesome idea. Seen it done on a couple of camper back half conversions over here.

It does but it's certainly not impossible.

Just something a little different to get used to.

A trailer with the axles FURTHER BACK will be more forgiving when being towed by something with a long swing.

I have seen a ton of these used to haul pulling tractors, so half dozen or so WH's would be no big deal!

It sure is yellow!

Note to self.  If you use the flashing overheads, it activates the sleeping child alarm.  When you shut it off, an alarm will sound until you TURN THE KEY BACK then hit the child alarm on the back wall!  Geesh!
