I’m not so young anymore..

Pullstart

It’s been a while since I’ve visited here with a story.  No flip flops involved here... no shoes at all!

We got the girls a new trampoline.  It’s got the safety net, so they can’t fly off onto the ground.  Yesterday, Rylee shows us her newfound skill of a backflip.

Last year, I taught myself how to back flip off a rope swing.  I’d never been able to get over the fear of flipping backwards... momentum helping me or not.

So, the girls all thought it would be a great idea for me to try on the trampoline too.  It wasn’t.  First attempt, I landed arm/crooked shoulder first.  My right arm is pretty wrecked today.  I hope it is just sore, nothing torn.

A trampoline is the last thing you or anyone else should be on. Yes they are fun but it doesn't take much to land the wrong way.

I’ve been tooling around today.  I need to do some silicone work on the inside corners of a shower project but picking my arm up over my head is not working.  Good news, I can pull a Wisconsin over with my other wing @squonk!

I agree with ElCamino - you are not old yet.  However, you are at the age where your mind is writing checks that your body is refusing to cash.

Sooner or later your mind will get tired of the stiff/sore feedback your body is giving.

I can empathise Kevin, I'm 55 years old and things are creaking as I get older.

Things I would take in my stride a few years ago are really taking their toll. And I still have so much stuff left to do!

Wrists are aching at present and im doing physio exercises to strengthen them. But of elastic band to put some resistance in, something I used to do with heavy dumbells. Lol.

Kevin, Kevin, Kevin, at least you waited until you got home. Sad to see you're back in this forum. Hopefully a few days and you'll be ready for your next adventure :teasing-poke:

So… have the moderators loosened the standards again regarding the absolute need for photographic proof of said exploits…? :snooty:

While I absolutely believe your description, there are standards of decency and etiquette that after all must be maintained… :ychain:

Water is softer and more forgiving than a trampoline!                                     Hope you feel better soon.

Its great to see you having fun and enjoying your time with your daughters. Everyone should be so  blessed with your attitude towards life. However, be careful. Some things we do when we are younger that causes us a bit of pain or discomfort come back much later in life to haunt us. But who am I to give that advice? It was also given to me at the time and I basically ignored most of it. Even though now I regret not following it and suffer a bit, in the scheme of things it was part of life and most of it worth it.

Thanks Cas, and all the funny comments too :handgestures-thumbupright:

After a day of stretching or hanging my arm on something tall when I feel like pushing it a bit, using mostly my left arm, and just puttering around the house, I’m feeling much better.  Likely a pulled or strained muscle, luckily not a rotator cuff or something serious!

Only problem I have with being of a mature age, is my brain thinks I'm still in my twenties. My body is constantly reminding it I'm not.

Last year eldest grandson said I was pretty fit for my age. When I said I can't run anymore, he replied, "Why do you want to run?" I answered, "I don't, but I'd like to be able too."
