I have a C100-8 with a 42 inch mowing deck. I am 6 foot and it's a tight fit for me when setting on the tractor. Can I move the seat back without getting in trouble with the weight shift to the rear? What is the best way to move the seat? Drill new holes for the existing brackets? Modify a sliding bracket from another brand?

Do you have the tilt back seat pan?

If so you NEED to make SURE the latch is fully contacting.

I'm 6'1"+ and 2@#$ ALOT of pounds so I moved the seat back (( 2" ??)) on my 74 C160.

I used 1.5" square multi hole steel.

It's a bit of a distance shot.  You can see what I did here.

One of the things that I have found...going up is as good as moving back.  I'm 6' 1" also, if I put a 2x4 under the seat and raise it 1 1/2" to 3 1/2" depending on how I turn the 2x4 and the go back 1 or 2 inches it works for me.  Up and back is the answer.

The clutch pedal can also be adjusted. It does not affect the clutch action - just the pedal position for operator comfort.

Did you mean "does NOT affect the clutch action"?

You can put some 2x2 steel tubing on each side under the fender pan to raise the seat and fender.  That way your ready to put larger diameter tires on it if you want too.
