657/867/1267 clutch idler pulley?

Recommended Posts

ebinmaine

@OldWorkHorse Steve and I both need a clutch idler pulley on early tractors.

The one from Trina's 856 military tribute tractor measures 3" od.

How do we get these new?

Is there a Sten's or other aftermarket number?

Well Eric, you could try our "Classified / Wanted" Section.  A-Z, etc.  :occasion-xmas:

😀

Oh.. I know.

In fact Lincoln was my first thought.

I'll edit my first post. I was hoping for a part number from some place like Sten's or an alternate source for new ones.

I need one and I want to put one in stock and I know Steve needs one too.

@ebinmaine Try K & B just bought 2 deck idler pulleys from him.  There was a guy on here a couple of years ago that had a boat load of pulleys for sale. You may want to do a search.

I was able to track down a pulley for a Bolens deck at TSC a while back. Correct pulley diameter and shaft size, but the overall thickness of the pulley due to heavier-gauge metal made it too thick to put the top shroud back on over it; had to run it exposed. May or may not be an issue for you; check your clearances under the belt shroud if you think they have a match.

Waldo, I remember seeing all those pulleys that guy had...they were Wheel Horse pulleys also.  Right, about 2 years ago in the For Sale Classifieds.  :occasion-xmas:

"Only".....

I don't mind spending money on something when I need to but I'm too damn cheap to spend $45 on a pulley...

Between Steve and I we need 4.

Thanks Pete. I'll check it out when I get home. I think it's 3/8?

Looks likely that we'll order four of them from @prondzy

Steve I looked on my phone which is of course different from a pc. My listings using a search term "pulley or pulleys" only go back maybe six or seven months? I couldn't figure out how to go any further than that.

@greenbushtrees I think was his handle. I've bought a few different pulleys from him over the years. I don't think I've ever seen him post much.

I got one today at TSC for $19. 3 inch diameter with a 3/8 bearing. It will need a spacer on the mounting bolt, but that is easy enough.

I typoed that, it is 5/8 bore. I think the spacers are 3/4 but they have that size at TSC too.

I always press the insert out of a wornout pulley and save them. A lot of them

have that bearing and an insert pressed into it. Sometimes have to shorten the

back side for alignment.

I have had several rebuilt by @prondzy and you can’t beat his price and quality of work.  I save every old original 1623 riveted idler pulley.   Going to send them to Mike for rebuilds!
