Ok, So I bought this tonight... Now what??

Picked this up today because I wanted the deck for my 875. The 875 has no deck so I figured this one is better then none at all. Question is what do I do with the rest of it??? 875, was told the engine needs rebuilding. Been sitting in a barn last 20+ years. Steering wheel is broke. Both front tires are shot and coming off the rims. Original paint. Plow needs the arm to turn the blade. Its repaired in a fixed position. Worth more in parts or as whole? Not sure I want a big project. What do you all suggest???

I just got one back in 2019. I love it. If you are coming to the Wheel Horse show, bring it with you and I might buy it...if the price is right.

agree with Achto and Ed K

find another engine and/or send that engine to richmond red ( @richmondred01 ) for a nice massage and that could be one sweet tractor

I have the piece for the steering wheel. Has any one had any success in repairing one ? Main concern now is figuring how to get it out of my truck !!

I was told it was shot. Its still in my truck. Haven't even got a good look at it. It was pouring rain out when I went to get it. Pervious owner had it in driveway when I got there. He loaded it into my truck with a fork lift.

drop by my place, we can lift it out with the Hilo or tie it to something heavy and you can drive off :D

I saw that ad this morning. It would make for good project. Find an engine, and hopefully the transmission is okay. It's sure to clean up nice. I thought about it, but with 6, I don't need another. You'd like it more than that gear jammer. Ha ha, there's your engine, it will swap right in. ;)

Last time I bought a tractor with an engine that "needs rebuilt", it needed the points cleaned.. I wouldn't write it off before looking it over!

Yes I will look it over better when i have time. Just picked it up and it was raining pretty good when I went to get it. I got it cheap enough so I wasnt really concerned much. He priced it fair enough. I am not really looking for another project and it seems to nice for me to strip parts off it for my 857. @rjg854 if you have a nice deck that would fit my 857 maybe there is a swap in there? The deck that came with this one is all there, needs a patch or two. Ill get it fixed and painted and use it for my 857 if I have to. Thought about a Predator swap, like I did with the Lambert. I have a nice 8hp Briggs that might work... I dont know. Yard Art perhaps ???

In the past,I've bought Horses that looked much worse than that one.I would NEVER consider yours a parts machine. It looks way too good.Like others have said, check out the engine and try to start it.You might just be surprised.

Predator or Briggs swap would make little sense on that particular tractor

just my opinion

It's far to nice to break for parts. First thing is to see if the engine will run then go from there.

I know what you are saying. I would love to restore it but I lack the time, money, and knowledge to do it. I went to get it because I wanted the deck and maybe some other parts. Now that I have it I see it would be a shame to disassemble...... hence the question..... now what??

Looks like it's turning pinkish to me. Prolly a repaint in the past. Tape lines on the belt guard. uneven spray on the flywheel screen and bolts. Paint on the extra pulley on the right. Engine supposedly knocks. You can test the hydro somewhat with another tractor and a long belt. If the trans works, replace the Kohler with a Kohler.

:text-yeahthat:I have to agree with Mike on this, as long as the transmission is good, repair or replace the engine. Stay with Kohler or it won't be worth much more than you already paid for it.

Pull that dipstick out of the trans and see what that ATF looks like first.

Hi all.  I am new to the Wheel Horse world and I have a question about attaching a tiller to my 875 before I start spending money.  Based on what I've read so far, it sounds like I can use the RT-366 tiller without having the 8-3311 PTO assembly, is this correct?  If so, does the RT-366 belt attach to the hydrostatic motor if there is a double pully (#6887) installed?

My 875 is missing the small spring that is attached to the cam/neutral plate.
The part number is 1230 and NLA.
Anyone have one or know the dimensions of the spring?
      Thank you!

ISO of hydro motion control lever bushings.
      These appear to be parts # 5666 (nylon) need 2, # 5983 (Nyliner) need 2, # MW2195 (bronze) need 1.
      Please PM me here.
      Thanks in advance.

For those of you that have followed the "Iron Horse" restoration thread, you know about the history of this tractor with our family!  Judge had been asking to drive it and so I gave him the opportunity to do so...

I don't think there is an easier tractor to drive and he had a blast. It is hard to believe that it was 33 years ago that I was driving the same machine at his age!

Here I am driving it in the Fourth of July parade 2017
