ID this Ford tractor? Can't see much...

This machine is behind a storage shed.  It's owned by my town and has been sitting back there for a couple years now.  I'm wondering what model it is, and what it's value might be.  I'm thinking I don't need another project but I'd hate to see this go to the scrap yard if I can get it cheap.

If it's owned by the town there are specific rules, they can't just sell or give it to an individual.  They would have advertise/auction it to general public

That's what I was thinking too.  I know a couple folks over at the town and might be able to persuade them to put it up for auction.  I don't know why they just parked it there and left it, probably not running.  Might need a ton of work.

Didn't think it was that big.  I was thinking maybe a 2000 series, but I know next to nothing about them!

WHX??

3000 series I'm thinkin... solid seat would suggest early. Probably has engine/transmission issues that's why it was parked.

Scrap value. Wouldn't hurt to ask someone on the town board about it tho.

So this hole in the hood would be where the exhaust stack would go then...  and that is probably a major concern if it's been sitting in the rain and snow for years with that open to the weather!

That does look pretty close Ed!  I guess the placement of the headlights varied.  I don't see the hole in the hood that I've circled in your pic.  I wonder if that's a difference between the Diesel and Gasoline models?

I now know where the model/serial info is on the tractor, I'll try to hack my way in there this evening and see if I can find out what it is.

I would guess it is a 3000. Probably a 69 or 70. The air cleaner on the side of the hood makes me think that. They were made from the mid 60's to the mid 70's. Later ones had smooth sides like the 3600 tractor that replaced them. As far as value goes? Depends on if it is stuck. Then scrap. But? If it is repairable? $500.- $1500. as is, would not be a surprise They were actually an ok tractor for what it was.

I made a few calls today.  Nobody I spoke with seemed to know anything about it!  I've got two more calls to make tomorrow,  hopefully they will at least know that it exists!

If that don't work and nobody knows it's there I'm just going to put on an orange vest and go take it!

Talk to the guys that might have operated it if you can catch one around at the town garage see what they know.

Probably used for mowing town property or ditch mowing?
