Mostly because I didn't check it this time.

I'll tell you the worst thing for my oil checking habit was getting a machine with the dip stick with the square head that requires a wrench. I'll check ring top sticks every time, but when you add the 10' walk to the tool box it never seems to get done enough

Yeah but that's 20 ft! Who's walking 20 ft?? Too far. Too far.

Not 'book smart' special, but "don't lick the doorknob special" !

I don't have pins but I keep the bolts quite right.

I thought about doing that, good to know that it will work, thanks.

I know you guys up north like the colder weather but seeing that video reminds me of why we sold the folks place in Maine in 2009.  As i get older I love 80 degrees more and more.

I live one hour from you and it hasn’t topped 30 today. Had 5” of Albino s&$t come down here last nite. Spend about 2 hours on my 520 Horse today plowing the road. You must have ran out of gas on your way to Florida?

Only been to FL once and that was enough.  I am someone you don't come across often and that is a native Virginian.

By the time I got to the bottom of this page, I forgot the subject!

As for checking oil, what about a cheap wrench under the seat or tied under the hood on a leash / strong magnet?

Never thought I'd get tired of seat time, but I've just come inside from my 3rd ride pushing snow in 2 hours 😫

I did walk over and get a wrench this morning just because of this thread 😆

I have considered brazing a fender washer into a saw cut on the square head.  I am sure I'd be better at oil checks.  It doesn't need to be all that tight.

Nicely done Eric. You did  a great video. That old 16 is a pusher and a mover.

I placed another tool chest at the end of the garage near the tractors - much easier to get to tools now (and even more now because the garage is packed)

also keep a quart of oil close by - but the Kohler 12 and Onan 16's don't use much oil so I don't check before every use ... typically check oil level once every two or three uses

the tool I use most often on the tractors is a 9/16 to snug the trans lever / cam on the 416s (hydros) ... should get a new nylock nut

As far as cold toes, my best winter boots are much older than I am, wool lined, about 2 or 3 sizes too big.  They have all kinds of air circulation room and that helps my feet keep toasty!

Yuppers, me too, it was -21c or I think -5F.......with the wind they said -27c. over sized boots, cotton inner socks and yupper whool outersocks keeps the toe jam pliable heheheheh.

Yesterday 19:00 -5*C and it began hardly to snow, at 23:00 i see it‘s about 12cm so i decided to go plow.

On the way to the Shed i felt air seems too warm for snow and i think time to plow before it metls. 😂

after i started the Horse and went out of the Shed it‘s just starts raining hardly and i decide to stop the plow fun.

and wait for tomorrow.

Today in the morning all is turned to green and most of the snow is molten.

not fair...🤪
