did you set a basecolor of Black ahead?

Yes, it started with a high gloss black urethane. The Moto Chrome paint that I used specified that the base color must be a urethane paint. It also specified that the base black color be allowed to cure for at least 1 week before spraying the chrome paint over it.

Thanks Dan for that Feedback.

I see that often in advertising's, but never tried it myself.

but to see a result from an independent person give me a better feeling to try it by myself.

They mostly suggesting not clear coat it, otherwise the Glossy will fade quickly.

Is that the same on this product?

This company offers a clear that is "made" for their chrome paint and suggested it be used for extra protection if the item is to be exposed to the elements. They warn that it will drop the reflection quality by 5% to 10%. Well... they are right. The shine is not what it was before I cleared it.

It still has a respectable gloss but not like it had before I cleared it.

Latest projects Im finishing up just before big show.

Hitching posts....used old rotors from the brake shop, drill 6 holes around edge, and added bolts with 2 nuts...one nut snugs against the outside of the pot pinning the pot between the bolt head and that nut, the other nut tensions against the rotor while the tip of the bolt goes into the holes around the edge of the rotor.

Steins...did a red coat over some if the off red abs and assembled. Painted ONE custom BIG SHOW stein as a donation to the WHCC auction.

Also just finalized design for the 78 79 fiberglass blackhood lenses will have one or 2 of those at the show.

Just a thought, could the tombstone be scaled down to be the key cover, rather than the square black piece?

A very cool idea! The small size would prevent the tiny details and lettering, but even the shape speaks for itself. Ill add that to the list for some tinkering! Print it in the Enzo Red

Pretty damn cool,Imglad I found this site.Been thinking about a hood ornament. My tractor is in the shop,(I fried something and decided to let a pro fix it before I do more damage .I'll be in perfect order and 90 percent pretty. A sweet hood decoration will definitely push me over the top

Test print! This was at 70 percent infill. Text sizes look good, maybe still a little high.

Also figuring on thickness, this 5mm may be a bit too stiff. This sample has almost zero flex.

For those who havent been following else where, and thanks to a RedSquare member who is willing to send a broken one for dimensions, we'll soon have a headlight bezel model for the '78 '79 fiberglass hoods that are very hard to find! I'll be sure to have these ready just as soon as i receive the example, and ill be sure to bring at least one up to the Big Show(unless more are requested)

Continuing to send out ornaments etc. Just purchased an upgraded computer system that is extremely fast! Now have the ability to vastly increase resolution, AND use photos to 3d scan items...such as this gargoyle head from the Trans Allegheny Lunatic Assylum museum.(The 2nd largest handcut stone  building in the world after the Kremlin.) Museum wants keychain gargoyles lol.Fist the original cast, and the screenshot of the completed 3d model.

I’m building a lowered 300 series wheelhorse. So far it’s a combination of 3 scrap tractors.
the frame, trans and tins are from a GT2500 anniversary special given to me by a neighbor with a trashed Briggs. The Kohler M12 is from a junkyard 312 that was roached. The parts tractor I’m using for the build was another older 312. I’ve got the k301 in the garage. The trans was toast. Both axles wallowed out keyways and 1 axle actually broken.
Anyway! I needed a project and a toy to putt around the neighborhood. I couldn’t find any other posts on how to do the whole thing. I’m trying to keep it cheap using stuff I have on hand and looking as “stock but cooler” as possible. So here we go.
I’ll update this as I go along.
