My 1969 Charger 12 came with one as part of the 36" deck 5-7365

Edit Looking at the manual for the 5-7365 looks like the tach matic midmount is correctly installed.  Drive belt for that deck is #9360.  found two different cross over for length  parts manual indicates 97"  belts listing shows 96"

Mike, I think this was the first attempt to get away from that weak  swing arm side drive tensioner that was always breaking.

This front mule drive used a spring to tension the belt.    I'm not sure which models and years used this mule drive, but the design was short lived.

The front attach-a-matic and current mule drive followed very quickly.

Maybe Garry @gwest_ca can shed some light on the history of this mule drive.

Looks like 1969-1972 for rear discharge decks and 1971-1972 for side discharge.

Agree with the rest. Other than that ground  wire, new seat and a pair of springs for under it and call it done...

Here's my raider 10 with the early front mule drive.      I see the mid attach-a-matic is the same as your 1277.  This must be correct.
