squonk 38,844 #1 Posted January 18, 2021 I am getting old Recently retired so I have time to do nothing all day. I replaced the old fluorescent lights a couple weeks ago with LED'S so I can somewhat see again. I was working on the 953 that I HAVE OWNED FOR 2 1/2 YEARS. I noticed what looks like a patch in the block right where a rod would have known to come out to say HI! It's not causing any issues and if it is a patch somebody did one heck of a job. Stepney 2,314 #7 Posted January 18, 2021 Least it was welded, once upon a time I had a 16hp single B&S powered Roper with a pop-riveted license plate over the side of the block. So I went to all the trouble to tear my K321 down, preheated the whole block, welded it, immediately covered it in hot ashes and waited overnight and all I really needed was a license plate and silicone instead of cork? Honestly, and I'm not a pro rebuilder, but all it needs is to not leak. Too darned bad the cork failed and or course went right for an oil hole! A friend of mine told me to buy as the seller didnt want much because he thought the engine had to be replaced. So I bought it cheap. My buddy put some kind of goop on it and sealed it right up. I had that little car a few years and put many miles on it without any issues with it leaking ever again. I can not for the life of me remember what he used but it worked great. I've used different leak stops for coolant, rear ends, autotrans and oil and was SO pleased that I tried them. Some miracles might get you home, finish your trip or last so long you forget them. There aren't any to buy anymore around here. Really dried up. You see the same tractors for sale week after week Way overpriced. Paid cash 2 years ago on the GMC. Wife's Toyota has almost 150 on it.
