Quick little project I put together yesterday

We have one of those rolling mechanics seats at work, but one of the wheels has been broken for a long time and it has a bad habit of dumping me over backwards when I least expect it.

 

Yesterday was an extremely slow day, so boredom took over. I started digging in the junk pile behind the shop, and came up with a coil spring and brake rotor off of an F150, and a hub assembly off a half ton Chevy. Little bit of welding and a reproduction tractor seat and I now have a new chair. Just the right height for doing brake jobs on the ground when we don’t have a lift available, and would probably work great for wrenching on the Horses as well

Those rolly seats (and creepers for that matter) are notorious for the casters loosening and stripping the threads. I went to Harbor Fright () and biought new casters with longer stems. Lock washers, lock nuts and loctite cured that problem for good!
