I will be trying to get this thing up on four wheels as soon as I can and start making some decent progress so I can use it this spring.

You are talking @ the spring of 2021 correct :confusion-scratchheadyellow::teasing-poke:

I've been needing to do this for a while now. Convert an old pressure washer frame to a test run stand. I want the engine to purrrrrrr when it goes in.

I'm about at my wits end with this engine. It may be time to move to a different one. I'm thinking a worn cam or leaky valve. Its acting like it's out of time. The flywheel key is fine. The valves are adjusted. I've cleaned and tried 3 different carbs and checked for water in the gas. No change.

No points on it just a coil, and the prettiest color blue of a spark.

Not having very good luck. I gathered up a second engine, cleaned its carb. Fired it up, dialed it all in and was happy other then a hint of an odd noise. Just ever so faint. Then BOOM. The rod came thru the block. So I'm onto engine #3. We will see.

They don’t call them “welding rods” for no reason :laughing-rolling:

Some of the less-expensive Briggs and Stratton engines have plastic cam lobes that will give you those symptoms.  I've had many 6-8 hp vertical shaft engines suffer from that.  It is an easy fix, but not always the cheapest so a different engine may be a better option.  If so, my vote is for a V-twin Briggs.

I'm on engine #3 all I can get out of this one is a rolling start. Then nothing. I did look at a 16hp v twin sitting here but the exhaust goes straight down and I dont have frame room to make it work. I dont know if I allowed enough dash room for an opposed twin either.

Let's see your view from your workplace "window". I know some are driving truck,or tractor, work in shops/offices or outdoors. What is it that surrounds you during your work day?

I've had some stuff laying around for a while now. I've had some ideas kicking around my head for a while as well.
Well they met each other a few days ago.
This is going to be a camp buggy of sorts.
Like any of my other builds I would appreciate any input anyone want to donate.

The base is an 1982-88 Yamaha G1 golf cart.

I started a thread a little while back "Something from Nothing". It has been upgraded to this thread because now I'm building something from something lol. I started with a new frame and strengthened the transaxle mount a bit.
