We were thinking the same thing.

There were 2 cellar holes and multiple unmapped side roads.

There are three campsites at the parking area.

Next year we may stay there a night or 3 and do some exploring.

In the video that's over a minute long you can see that it's next to the old cellar hole of the family homestead.

Not sure if it's original to the site or moved by a government entity at some point.

Here in Maine it was standard practice to have a small family burial plot on the property. Some are still used today.

There are towns that have over 200 little graveyards then several public graveyards or cemeteries. (Not the same thing).

Trina and I are very interested in history and this site has fascinated both of us.

I'll try to remember to share whatever we find about the area.

A lot of East Tennessee looks the same way. We have a place here called Burgess Falls that you can walk beside the waterfall at one point! Looks like

a great place to explore!! Any gold panning?

Is everything on USDA lands now?  I looked up the rules pertaining to metal detectors and it said that they are permitted and you can take some minerals, but historical artifacts are to remain.  So if you find a 500 year old silver coin I'm sure that it will stay lost forever.  :shifty:

I'd have to look at the maps to tell you exactly where those cellar holes lie.

We did cross into a National Forest but I'm fairly sure it was long after where those were located.

I haven't heard of any successful gold panning in Maine..

Trina and I feel EXACTLY the same way.

There are more and more towns here in new england that are welcoming ATV and UTV usages inside the village areas because it generates income for lots of different businesses. I understand why they are doing it but it keeps us AWAY from being around those villages...

I used to love riding but there's too many irresponsible people that ruin it for everyone else. Scenery like that is too beautiful to let some destroy.

ATVs and off road vehicles are  are not permitted on the 1.4  million acres of Pa's State Game Lands.     Bikers, snowmobilers, dog walkers, and horseback riders are restricted to marked trails and specific times of year and days of the week.

That's pretty much like it is in Maine in New Hampshire.
