When i was like 12, i wanted to catch a bird, so i set up a trap with some bread. The trap could fit an pigeon. Next day, i went take a look, the biggest rat i had ever seen up until this day was in that trap. The complete trap was filled with that rat and she was an aggressive on too.

Yeah but could it fly??

Last spring, a new neighbor showed up and liked to make trouble.. wound up moving some outdoors stored things into my shed in a haste.. brought in  whole family of mice inadvertently.

Been right out war ever since. Every crack in the floor or hole is stuffed with wire mesh. Cleared the place out last summer and dismantled every possible thing.. loaded it with traps, and for good measure, 'smoke bathe' the place every few weeks with an exceptionally worn out small B&S engine.. with lots of smokey goodness mixed into the fuel.

A few cups of blue antifreeze from the Subaru for Mickey to have a drink, about three dozen traps of all sorts, one electric frying pad with nutella in the center..

Enough poison and traps in there to kill an elephant..

As EB was kind enough to point out, there are indeed no elephants to be found. This maniacal method worked for about 6 months.. cold hit and somehow they are back in there.. little buggers are smart. Im still looking for the next method.. they wont touch a bucket, any sort of trap.. the 'buzzer' will fry a few now and then.

Perhaps you need to "up the game" to a MAMMOTH disintegraterizer.

I have a short leg Irish Jack Russell Terrier. When I bought her, the breeder mentioned her dad Scully’s proclivity towards killing rodents. This breeder also had horses and Scully got under the grain shed one day. He came out after a ruckus covered in Blood. They lifted the grain shed with their tractor pallet forks and found eight dead rats. True story! The lady who breeds these dogs is from Ireland and they are left to keep the farms free of mice and rats. My little girl spends every day hunting my wood piles and has an impressive kill rate. Not up to her dad but thank god I don’t have rats 🐀

I know somebody who takes cats and throw it in the waters around there castle.

BTW, i find another dead rat today, she was already rotting away.  She must have eaten some poison we get from the city for free.

Town in NM is thinking of issuing Bigfoot hunting licenses (traps only). Hmmm. @Stepney is right, those mice learn from the survivors. Only hope is to wipe 'em out completely. Took me years to no longer see signs of occupation and get it down to one or two small young ones per year caught using spring and sticky traps. I know where they are nesting outside but as long as they stay out, it's a truce.

We've been getting one or two a day. None yesterday.

I did order some more traps to have on hand to create a more widespread attack base.

:woohoo:     I caught two of Jerrys cousins this morning.    This is more fun than deer hunting.

Hmm, no blind Jim,  :techie-idea:but I could hang a couple trail cams and video the action.

$200 for a Good Nature A24 trap or $0.79 for a wooden Victor.    Dead is dead.

wood victor - inexpensive and always work for me

just a small amount of peanut butter (or whatever)

if for some reason peanut butter is gone but trap did not work - will try again (once or twice) and then will usually work ... if not - scrap that trap and get another

two things work especially well with mice :

cats - and snakes

if you don't have mice you often have one and/or the other

Traps in the four cars have been empty for a few days.  Peanut butter for bait.

I have the best success with Colby Jack cheese.   Some of the little rodents are able to lick the PB off w/o triggering the trap, but they are doomed when they try to bite off a chunk of CJ.

I have good luck with raisins and the snap trap. Many times the raisins will get more than one mouse.

Kinda like using leeches instead of worms when fishing for bullheads.
