Belt guards

Recently there was a thread about using belt guards or not. I replied about the damage guards can do to the top of the deck.Someone  remarked that  he had never seen the damage I described.Here is what I was referring to.

Take the guards off a couple of times a season and clean it. That damage is nothing compared to getting a foot in there.

That may be true but there are an awful lot of people that run these with flip flops on

On my decks, the threaded holes for the little set screws to secure the guards are goosed.

Do you have riv-nuts in your part of the world?If you do they may solve your problem.

See if you can find some "Nutserts", they are like a large pop rivet that has threads in it.

I use these on the ship for securing furniture to bulkheads (walls) but we have a special gun for them, not unlike a rivet gun. I can't think of the exact name at the moment, but they are available in the UK.

Kitchen staff at the hospital I worked at would race the food trucks down the halls at night and would crash a few. I had a giant bag of nut serts to put them back together :rolleyes:
