Oh by the way... @WHX24 will be happy to know this C will be a real proper colored Red restoration.

We will believe that when we see it!

If Eric moves at his usually pace, we might get to see it run in a year or two.  :ychain:

I'll s'pose I'll just keep the restoration thread going right here.

@Sparky maybe you could push it over to the Restoration Section?

I removed the engine tin and cleaned out the Rodent Ramada.

The drive belt spun off the transmission pulley which is rusted to the point of breakage. That's good because it saved me removing the belt.

There are some places/things about the tractor that are quite solid.

Steering wheel has the original cap. Steering system is nice and tight.

Seat back has been replaced and is nice. Seat base is original and very good.

The hitch pin and one hub are loose.

The muffler is an OE Nelson and rock solid.

@Docwheelhorse

I did find why it may have been parked originally. The voltage regulator wires were leaning heavily on the steering shaft and worn through. From what I understand about SSI systems it's likely not working because of that but we'll see later.

Over the years the transmission has frozen up. Not a serious issue as we have a couple spares.

Agreed.

But it uses a Ford abs sensor too.

All you need to fire that module is a long extension cord and a soldering gun. The magnetic field created by the gun windings will fire that plug 60 times a second!! It is a Tecky. Don't make things worse throwing Ford parts at it! :teasing-poke::teasing-poke::hide::text-imsorry::lol:

I posed that very question to her yesterday.

No names have popped up yet.

We figure it'll name itself soon enough.

We did actually talk about that...

So here's the current plan:

Even though the Military Display show at Owls Head was cancelled Trina still wants to build herself a Military Tribute Tractor using the 856 gifted to her by @Herder Adam.

I want the Charger Hydro done ASAP so can get some run time on it use it for winter.

Then Colossus so it'll be ready for spring '21 forestry season.

Then... This ole girl is next in line.

Not to mention Trina's house painting project.

And all the other 74 million things she does.

So it'll be a bit.

:techie-hourglass:

This post makes me happy bcuz i no longer feel foolish for liking WH so much that i have only 1 complete (done) tractor, n two projects.

N jus so you know, i woulda loved to add your Techy powered C160 to the herd...those two snowblowers in the 1st pic (upper lefthand corner n middle right of pic; ik, hard to spot thru all the clutter! Lol) 20200701_192408.jpg.1cfecab9ef6706df462786ba3fdc3e7e.jpgive posted are both powered by'em; a 7 n 8hp, respectively...n they are a fine beast of a motor when setup n tuned right, thankyou verymuch😊20200608_112616.jpg.2406d11d832d6ac92586b014bbd8b654.jpg

Thanks for easing my mind, Friend😊

A while back I acquired a 1966 Sears Suburban that had been repowered with an OH160.  When I saw how a replacement carb cost, I almost scrapped the engine! Luckily I came across an obscure post noting that a Kohler K341/K321 carb could be made to work. I know this is a long term project and I wanted to drop this note in here in case it becomes relevant later.   $20 instead of $200+.

Thanks!!

No idea if this carburetor is any good. It's free and moving so that's a good sign. I do have a spare Kohler 16 horse carb.

I appreciate you dropping that note so I can look back at it later.

Any thoughts how to find the post that you had looked at?

I think this is the place I saw it:

And here's a pic of it installed in the Suburban.  IMG_20200706_085748731_HDR.jpg.731158dcdf4db928ca241f3b276eeaba.jpg

      Hello,

I am hoping someone can help my. I recently acquired a c160 for the engine for another tractor. So I did a motor swap and wanted to see what the hydro was like. I put a plow on it C-160 (which now has a 12hp engine on it). I did a quick test run and everything was good. I drained the fluid and change the filter (Napa 1410 filter and sae 30 transmission fluid as it stated to only use this fluid on the tractor.) everything was working great after the fluid change. I plowed two driveways and the sidewalks near my house... all the sudden the tractor would not go forwards or in reverse. I tried to pick the plow up and nothing... I checked my drive belt it was turning like it should. I started to push the tractor and the rear was engaged so it would not move. Of course I was 400’ from my driveway and the plow was down which made it fun. I put the tractor in forward and started to push it and the thing took off. So I hopped on and took it to the front of the garage. I put it in revers and it cut out again so I pushed it in the garage. Today I went out to check the tow valve. I took it out and cleaned the threads up put it back in and it did not change anything. According to the dipstick I have the proper amount of fluid in it. I did have a drip that I fixed on the cylinder still nothing... does anyone out there have any tips to help me out? I’ve never had a transmission like this only manual transmissions. The model of this transmission is the sundstrand 90-1140.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

      Brian

I have a 1976 C-120, 8 speed, that has had a bad rear axle key way for about 35 years. The plastic steel we put in to keep things together finally gave up the ghost last year. I tried some welding but that hasn't held up either. My question is will the rear axles from a C-81 8 speed fit in my transmission? According to the parts lists I found on this site, both trans have 1 1/8" axles and 8 pinion diffs, but the axle part numbers are different.  Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm brand new to the site and think its great!

I don't have pictures yet but I can get some later. I know that will be helpful but I forgot to take them last night.

      So here's what I know.
When I bought my c-160 last year it came with a plow. It was delivered to my house and the plow was not mounted on it. I never saw this particular plow on that particular tractor.
The plow I have is 42 inches wide and has a full frame as most of them do.
The angle lever has the Z shape to it, NOT a straight stick of metal, and also bends slightly back towards the operator.

When I am pulling the angle lever towards me to change the angle of the plow it contacts the brake lever.

      Any thoughts?

Any little tricks or tips I need to know about?
