Jeff...tell us about that white plate on your dad’s plow.  The way that is slotted, looks to me like that would afford some level of suck point adjustment. :confusion-confused: You definitely need to get that thing in the ground and polished up😉. I love the shape of that sod bottom, reminds me a lot of my dad’s old Bolens plow.

Sorry Josh been busy with a a Yellow and White project... The white plate on the plow was made by my dad many moons ago (at the sheet metal factory he worked at) so that cast iron beam could be bolted to the Brinly clevis... Just a few years back I took that plate to where I worked and added the slots and bent/tweaked it some more until it laid flat behind my 520 while the right side tires were on boards so yeah I guess you could have a couple 3/4" wrenches and adjust the "suck" a little bit when necessary... Not quite as easy as the Brinly... Also dad made the replacement share... I was going to flap wheel it then oil it down.

The courier has just picked up my Plow from its previous owner!

Delivery is Thursday :-( the same day I have to head back to Aberdeen and join my ship so I will just miss it. Damn nuisance as was going to take it onboard and clean it up in my free time, it can be quite boring stuck onboard when I have better things to do at home.

The kids kindly sent me a picture of the plow sitting behind one of the wheel horses - it turned up about three hours after I left for work.

If you want to plow 5 inches deep place 5 inch blocks under the front and rear left tractor tires.

Place the plow at the rear of the tractor like in the photo.

Then you can see what you need to do to join the two.

If a bit of adjustment can be built into the hitch you will be able to fine tune it.

You must have read my mind, was about to ask that very question!

So can anybody explain what the disc is for on the plow?

I'm assuming it's to stop things getting hooked on the blade?

I just brought a different kind of plow, this time managed to pick up a nice condition snow plow.

Haven't even been home yet to have a look at the plough that started this thread!

The owner also has a 48" side discharge deck and a bunch of parts for me 😁

Starting to get lots of attachments now, thought it would take a lot longer.

That's better, didn't even think to turn them around.

Yeah, I do have an axle bracket for my Rototiller, but hopefully this will have one as well so I can swap between machines if required.

The disc is called a coulter and cuts the sod just before the mouldboard turns it over.

Thanks Gary, will be more questions once I get home and start trying to mount the plough onto the tractor. I can see that taking a back seat for a day now I have the snow plow!

Good idea, it starts getting expensive quickly when you have to keep buying these little bits and pieces.

I made up a set of them using the locking levers from an old original bracket.

I used 2 pieces of a Wheelhorse frame.

I did that because I needed to move the whole plow forward a bit to clear the oversized front tires and it gave me the ability to leave the hitch on year round because I changed the way it bolted on.

Just got home, had a first look at the plow.

It's got adjustment on the front to change the angle - see pics. That's got to be a good thing.

I know there's a thread on here somewhere that has them but I don't remember if it's separated or in a common Thread. I'll either find a couple pictures or take some more for you.

Here's a shot of the right side bracket.

Left is same size/shape but opposite built.
