The things people throw away (part 3)

That is one heck of a dumpster find.  If I had to guess, I'd say some "kid" that doesn't know which end of a socket wrench to use was tasked with cleaning out Dad's or Grandpa's shed after he passed.

That sounds about right. A lot of people don't know a ratchet from a wrench.

Some people have to much money. Even if it doesn't run, there's plenty there for the price. :handgestures-thumbup:

I agree with what Stormin said. Some people just do not get it. Throw away society we live these days. Very nice tractor.  Enjoy it.

I bet its something small / stupid like a bad switch or something.

It'd be the missing rear light lenses. :D

repaired a non-attached positive battery cable,

Reminds me of the local score @Achto and I went on once. Guy had a nice 520 listed here for a buck. Gotta have a price in classifieds ya know! He couldn't get it to do anything and didn't want to play anymore. Got it home and scratched our heads abit about some funky multimeter readings. Here the battery cables were backwards.... positive grounded.

Swapped them around and she fired right up! Good thing for RS classifieds or he might have scrapped it! Seriously paid a buck for it!

There are those in the world who should never be allowed to pick up a wrench....

I have my days when I'm clearly one of those folks.

:D

Was the battery a 9V, AAA or AA? :confusion-confused:

In the 15 years i've worked there , this is the third , complete, running , driving , cutting , WHorse that i've pulled from down there. This one is in the worst condition of the three. I don't have pictures of #1 but it was a 16hp blackhood with a 48" deck (engine did need rebuilt and then we sold it / still running). For those that are curious here is # 2: it came in about 5-6 yrs ago, 42" side, 42" blade, just as seen here in the wash bay at work, we still have it. (needed the carb rebuilt).  The wagon was another, about a year ago.

Great score.  A $6,000 tractor for $20.  I dread going to the local scrap yard since they won't sell anything that comes in due to liability issues. I never seem to be in the right place at the right time when things like that come along.  Enjoy it and NEVER sell it.  You will regret it.  Bill

My latest haul from today’s trash...

Neighbor few houses down.

Out of oil and gas...safety switch cable broke...

Filled both, bypassed safety and fired up on 1st pull... 5 minutes...

Little bit of Lucas treatment and it purrs... cuts good too! Will add an old style kill switch and I got myself a new “brush hog”!

That's true of most thing made today like box store mowers been making them cheaper with every model for the last 50 years. Sure doesn't leave much place to go.
