What did you do today?

@ebinmaine - amazing how stable that bar oil jug/peavey/log roller combination appears to be.....

We got back to our 'primary location' in Michigan today.  My neighbor at the lakefront had a tree guy into take down one of his trees.  I had asked him to have the guy take out one of my trees that was in poor shape when he was here.  I've now got about 20' of oak log in my yard needing processing.

Going to haveto get that old Mini Mac 16 chain saw running again. That oak log is too much for my battery powered Black & Decker chain saw.

2inch pvc, 1 male and  1 female threaded adapter, and a 2" coupler.

Coupler is the donor for a custom 3/8 spacer. Cut 3/8 or so off the end of the coupler, put it on the threaded portion, this keeps the NPT threads from gettin tight too soon!

Throw it on a 4x4 rim!

Sitting at breakfast we saw a falcon on the field opposite having just taken a pigeon.

20210516_082640.jpg.231fd16c399e8c3af227e156be170144.jpgThis is him. Or her. Peregrine falcon, pretty rare for our area as we have no tall buildings around where they nest. First one I've ever seen.

When it had done feeding I collected the pigeon. It was a racer and I managed to contact the owner who was from a place called Oswestry, 150 miles away or so.  The bird had been released from Frome in Somerset and went missing yesterday. He was an old guy and despite being upset at the loss of his bird he was very thankful for me letting him know what had happened to it.

Kind of a bitter sweet experience as I was thrilled to see such a beautiful bird but also sad at the loss of a prized racing pigeon.

Nature is a fickle old mistress.

Quite true.

IMHO:

The sooner one learns to adapt and live WITH the surroundings instead of trying to change them, the sooner one can reach happiness and efficiency in life.

A fellow Mafia member decided that life as he knew it just wasn't worth it any more, so the poor sap went & got hitched.

@WHX24 and I were in attendance to give our condolences.:) To help cheer the new groom up a mini tractor show and some cruising was on the schedule for the after party. The groom parked 17 of his toys out front plus there were 12 more tractors there that 3 of us mafia member brought to the festivities.

A picture of the line up that Jim & I brought.

Let us know when the fire sale is! :banana-linedance:

Got this BEAST of a gen-set from @Stepney awhile ago.

Been setting in the utility trailer since.

We need the trailer for next weekend so we finally took a few minutes of VERY hard work and weaseled it down to the shed.

Sure is, and it is comfy Mike.       The PO did a nice job cutting the back  down to a good height.    It still flips down for easy mounting...and even the right color.

And I was the only one ther with a plow!?! Whats up with that???

Looks like Dan fingered out how to use the panoramic on his new phone... what's worse is he taught my missus how to use hers!

Gotta admit was an impressive line up with only three collections present.

Our hostess with the mostess had a real  nice restoed 1855 Massey labeled Snapper  with a 22 Predator in it for a repo. Dan and I both got seat time! :woohoo: What a beast!

He also has a Massey-Harris H & M  he cranked up for us.

Last week I decided it was time to give the old garage shop a facelift.  New neighbors next door cleared some wooded area and now it's visible to one and all, and was looking sorta 'ghetto'.

After the English Ivy was ripped down, pressure washed, and some repairs to the stucco.

image.png.7ab688f89fd27d6447aa6a2854e22854.png

Next, a fresh coat of paint color that closely matches the siding of the house:

image.png.2c7fdc3238e2b213ea2692a853ac29ca.png

Guess I better do something about those windows too.

image.png.ea41cf6e002ef63cf5db8168fb79f9c6.png

Lotsa rot!  here's what remains of the one on the left after removal.  GOOD GLASS!  1/4" thick tempered!  Those windows are 48W x 18H

image.png.184217497c11e4a9d943710f3a92ea7e.png

So I raided my lumber stash and found some rails and stiles that I saved from old bi-fold closet doors.  REALLY NICE clear pine tight grain.

Did a little cutting and milling and ended up with a pretty darn nice new sash to put the glass into

Dry fitting on the radial arm saw table:

And finally, the Wheel Horse glue up bench.  The glass is laid in to square the sash and on wax paper so it don't stick

Sure enough!  I'll post progress as I move along.

I found a couple more of those bi-fold louvered doors in the pile that I haven't yet disassembled.  They look like prime candidates to cut down and make some nice window shutters from!

I love repurposing old stuff !  Every time I do, it's a new opportunity to say to SWMBO;  "See, I told you there was a reason I was saving that ! "

Also in the plan is a proper 'soffit' under the roof line.  (It will be straighter than my scribbles !  ;) )
