It’s in the bell housing.  Ford Model A stuff, I believe.  @oldiron613’s lever steer clutch you push to go, lift to stop.  This one, it’s like a vehicle.

I thought I looked like a ford banjo rear.

Circled in yellow, you can barely make out the top of the clutch pedal and the linkage down below.

These 2 first pics were yesterday after the new trail was cut in. As much as I like this tractor nothing like a 312-8 when it comes to fuel consumption. Every time I check the fuel gauge it always seems to be on E. The 312 on the other hand can mow the yard with a 48'' deck 3 times before a top off on the fuel. Get ready Eric when you finish that big Kohler twin project of yours.    :D

agree about the fuel consumption - but with a caveat ... when cutting grass

I'm able to cut more grass quicker with 416 compared to 312 - so its basically a wash after cutting around 3 acres for 3 hours ... both 312 and 416 will require approx same amount of fuel

I fill both to the top - and both are almost completely dry when I finish ... sometimes I will run out of fuel when I need to go over an area or two if I'm in the mood to do a slightly better job

also - this might contribute - I typically run the 312 with more throttle ... run the 312 around 3/4 throttle (?) compared to around 1/2 throttle or a little more (?) on the 416

Oh I know I know.

When I had I running for just a few minutes the level of the glass fuel jar was falling fast!!

@Stepney and I were just chatting about that yesterday.

Fill tank.

Go to forest and back.

Refill tank.

I think I have mentioned this before but I have never owned a vehicle that averaged more than 13 mpg and that is the most recent truck. So I am well used to it.

lol - I recall when I was in that camp

at the time I had a big block Chevelle , Olds , 4x4 truck , etc  - and my one friend had a little 4 cyl Dodge Colt - I think this was a rebadged Mitsubishi (?)

we were on a long road trip and it was my turn to drive so he could get some sleep

after an hour or so I was concerned because the gas gauge was not moving (not as I was accustomed to) - so I woke him ... he was not pleased  lol
