PeacemakerJack 10,671 #129 Posted September 19, 2020 Did some much needed work on my GTO this week. I finally decided that my 24 year old Firestone Firehawks has outlived their usefulness. So after much comparison and deliberation, I decided on Nitto NT555R’s for the back meats. While I had the rear wheels off, I further made the decision to replace the rear brake shoes and the leaking wheel cylinder. One of these days I’m going to splurge and treat myself to an awesome full custom rear end like a Strange 60 or a Moser 12 bolt but just can’t quite justify the expense yet. The house will be paid off in a couple of years—maybe then🤔 After teaching at institute tonight, I called the wife before leaving church and asked her if there was anything she needed. She asked me to stop by and grab some milk. I pulled into the quick mart at the same time as a guy with a ‘69 Chevelle SS396 (blue with white stripes). Believe it or not, I put in 22 years at the only factory that makes those Walker , Thrush, Dynomax and Ultra Flo mufflers... Its not that it can't be done its just not cost effective... The machinery , materials and labor costs... ZXT 2,394 #145 Posted September 29, 2020 Well, I know some, especially @elcamino/wheelhorse and @ebinmaine has asked for pictures of my LS swap in my '65 Elky. I took a couple this evening. When I put the engine in 3 years ago (yes, I'm slow at finishing some projects..) I ad everything painted up nicely under the hood.. Not so good looking now, but oh well! I went with the factory drive by wire setup off of the 5.3 since it came with that throttle body, and so that I didn't have to mess with finding an aftermarket cable that would work. Originally the car had a mechanical rod linkage feeding the throttle. Since I was using the factory pedal out of an '03 Silverado, I had to modify it to make it fit and sit properly in the car. I cut it down and used the vise grips to hold it together while I mounted it in the car temporarily to get an idea of where I needed to weld it together. First time using my little HF wire welder (or any wire welder period, really) so go easy on my welds! I'm pleased with how it turned out and I feel like the weld ought to hold. The air intake setup is ugly, but I haven't found a way to make it look better with my current radiator setup. 3 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

That'll be a sweet ride!! Yep, it fits well.. Plenty of room left in front of the engine, it just doesn't look like it from the pictures. Engine is completely stock. Should be 310 HP and 335 TQ. The 5.7 TBI is tired and honestly, I want more power without affecting reliability. I located a 2004 Chev Express with a roasted 4L80E tranny. It has a strong running LQ4 6.0 liter and that will find its way into Warrior soon. I need to gather all the necessary swap parts and mainly science out the electronics/computer side of things. Anyone here who has experience with these swaps, I’d appreciate your input. Can’t wait to see what your Elky looks like all put together and working... To keep us on topic...I saw this 1969 Lemans at a Home Depot parking lot. This car is the exact color that my GTO was originally. Cars interior is very similar to mine but with column shift and the original dash.
