I’m not convinced I don’t need the length of this long square hood... I planned to shrink it short originally. This WILL NOT become a 6 wheeler! Big smoothie 15’s up front, or Yamaha 10’s? Those rear IMCA dirt wheels are pretty wide. If anything, I might have to add some seat pan fenders to cover my rubber! Pullstart 59,548 #141 Posted January 25, 2020 Current wheelbase... about 73”. Hot Wheels the 953 is about 48”. Oh yeah, it’ll turn just great! I tossed a fender pan and seat on for reference. According to my sketch and some equations, the hood is a bit longer than it needs to be. I might just let that slide, unless I happen to find a decent short square hood that I can use.... but I don’t have anything laying around that would fit the bill. My opinion only, I would have to figure out a way to set the bed between the rear tires and lower it down some. Too tall for me. Leave the front wheels but flip the axle and drop it too. Size 13 kicks. IMHO you'd be better to size it for Max current reach of the girls (to drive) and let them grow into it some. Don't sweat the length. I drive all sizes of machinery. Your mind will adjust to the space of the rig just fine. If you want it to turn tighter you can widen the front axle to the point that the front wheels/tires can turn to about 50 or 60 degrees from straight without hitting the inside of the frame. I’d like to read more about it, see if I can’t figure some more stuff out. I do have bigger engines, but the Predator was one of the reasons I wanted to build this thing. I want simple, hopefully pull start is simple as can be. Again, I want the girls to be comfortable driving it too... it won’t be setting land speed records anywhere. @timo4352 I see what you mean for sure on proportions. I think I’d like to make this a two seater for chores and rider capability... but staying single seat would keep the leg room at it’s finest being able to straddle the dash. @19richie66 I agree, the bed is super high. With my choice of Wheel and tire, I’m thinking I’d be almost as wide as I am long with the build to get them outside the tub. I’m not sure if I want to build wheel wells in the box or not. @ebinmaine I do have to keep adults in mind, but don’t want to burden them trying to adapt to the machine. They need to be comfortable. Adjustable pedals? Easy to reach creature comforts? Not sure yet. With the tall wheels and tires up front, I THINK I’ll be able to achieve a pretty good scrub radius, but I understand too that we get used to what we’re driving no matter the manners of it. In fact you could build a base with its own adjustment, then seat sliders on top of that.... You'd get something silly like 8" of fore/aft toosh cooshion motion.
