Making of a family heirloom

So I got this Allis Chalmers 7045 pedal tractor in the early 80’s . I rode the heck out of it , then two cousins after me . In 1992 I restored it back to its old former glory and gave it to my nephew then went to his younger brother . I had to replace every piece of plastic and all the wheels as they were split from riding it so much . This was before the internet so I went straight to Ertl for my parts . I had to use JD wheels as cream wasn’t available but having access to original AC paint it wasn’t a problem. Fast forward to this week and my nephew came by and wants to redo it for his boy . Have to replace the seat and maybe the steering wheel. Also going to have to weld in a hitch repair casting as the top right was broken when I was riding around on this tractor . He’s going to split the tractor into it’s two half’s and sandblast the entire tractor and hopefully get it back together to put under the tree for Christmas. I’ve got to say this little tractor has been through the ringer but put a smile on all are faces and just maybe many more in the future .

more :text-coolphotos: to come as he blows this apart and prep for the casting repair and paint . If anyone has a Allis Chalmers or a International pedal tractor that would be willing to let go PM me . Just might have something you want or $$$ . Want one for the man cave.

Very cool! I had a pedal tractor that I rode the wheels off of (it was red, but not WH red :hide:). Looks like with the care yours gets, it'll last at least a few more generations!

I saw a similar AC pedal tractor on FB market place a month or so ago. I'll see if It's still there.

And this is how we did it in the old days kids, phone calls and letters, and lots of time and patience. :)

Cool project, can't wait to see how it comes together.

very cool, I got a radio flyer wagon in 1982 for xmas, my sister and I went all over the place with it, I redid for my kids in 2008, they hauled that thing all over the place too.  almost time to stick back into the attic for them to redo someday

Just waiting on my nephew :angry-tappingfoot:seeing I can’t do anything. He did say this morning he talked with the local machine shop that does a lot of costume work for farmers and he’s into pedal tractors. Told the nephew “Let me guess the rear hitch is broken out” said get the repair casting and bring it in and he’d jump right on it. Now to light a fire under my nephews butt :happy-bouncyredfire: and get things ordered....Christmas is coming fast ! :occasion-santa:

My cousin must’ve caught the bug as he went to his parents attic and dug his out. I remember riding this one too as he lived just a quarter mile down our lane   . Be cool to just set it by the tree 604C93B4-F57B-4EC8-A9A9-1E6DC4E29A4C.gif.5652cb12a8e6c6c17e6f5c015febee70.gif .

As how everything goes the elf is very busy and will have a late night ahead. Good thing it’s hot next to the wood stove to speed up dry time.  He should be able to get it done.....maybe :eusa-pray: before tomorrow night ... :occasion-xmas: ! More pics to come....4D082922-9611-47B8-9809-35CFF4A61ED1.jpeg.5b820f537063a1d1a7e1bdded1b6ef71.jpeg268C089D-5D07-4C11-B8BA-EDC82E04BFBC.jpeg.4eed20b5911db35e0f916fd071e7c5e5.jpegF6AA0051-3A14-464B-839A-F641E210DEB5.jpeg.dd95097ded14eb1b657a2b99a05fa82b.jpeg9E7A6287-03EF-4603-B33C-277678DA4F2B.jpeg.3fb3a313adc1b4f2ed77778670129668.jpeg211206EE-0FB9-4AED-865E-F8C7B1C2F202.jpeg.b6a0260858d54763d5b298de4661dfcc.jpeg

Well the elf isn’t going to make it :( as the paint on rims alligator cracked :angry-cussingblack: . He should’ve used Rustoleum instead of the TSC brand tractor enamel . Anyways the build won’t stop and I’ll be back with updates and pics as I get them.

Thanks for the updates Jeff.   Sometimes deadlines don’t make it.  I had to get my kids excited about what they will be getting... instead of getting their new tool sets wrapped before Christmas morning!  I am still pretty danged excited to set them up with their first tool sets though!

Merry Christmas!

Sorry Jeff that you guys weren’t able to get this done by Christmas, however it is getting close to completion.  I can’t wait to see the finished product and the littlest family members enjoying it.  I never owned my own pedal tractor but I had several buddies that did—very cool!  I guess my “pedal” tractor was the 875...

Well the good thing the little guy just turned two so he probably won’t care it’s not Christmas  and may of found a local guy who collects, buys, sells tractors and parts. We’re thinking duels and fabricating a weight bracket and wide front end . Kevin I know how you feel about the toolset. Dad would be sure to get me tools every year for Christmas. I had to get myself another set for Christmas as I couldn’t pass up the deal . I got this same Crescent brand 230pc set in early December for $103 before I seen your post. I should’ve bought three as by cyber Monday they were $180 (it’s a discontinued set) and that’s not the only thing that I seen prices raised for Black Friday weekend :angry-cussingblack: .
