CountryRock 198 #1 Posted November 8, 2019 Ok, I'm looking to get new tires for the 416H that I've been working on. The stock rear size that came on it is 23x9.50-12 and the stock front is 16x6.50-8. I'm looking for something a little more aggressive than turf tires for it, I'm thinking Carlisle trac chief for the rear. What sizes can I get away with putting on the stock wheels? The Tuul Crib 7,332 #2 Posted November 8, 2019 If you go with deestones their sizes do run a little smaller. I put 10. 50 On my 7 inch rims without a lot of bulge on the outside. I'm not sure about Carlisle's on a 7 inch rim .
CountryRock 198 #3 Posted November 8, 2019 I'm not sure I want to use the ag type tires as the tractor is still going to be used for mowing.
AHenry014 127 #4 Posted November 8, 2019 Many put 10.50's on the stock wheels. Some tires have a bit of sidewall bulge but it does not effect performance. There are some intermediate tires you can get that have more agressive tread without getting into Ag's. The carlisle all trails look appealing to me.
Lee1977 6,209 #5 Posted November 8, 2019 (edited) Buy 4 ply if you are going to 10.50 as you can run a little less air to keep the tread more flat across. The 2 ply will round up like a beach ball and not much you can do about it. I took some 2 ply off because I didn't like the way they looked. 2 ply 23 x 9.50 x 12 on 7" rims 4 ply 23 x 10.50 x 12 on 7" rims Edited November 8, 2019 by Lee1977

What sizes can I get away with putting on the stock wheels? 23x10.50-12 will fit just fine but those Trac Chiefs (R4 Industrial) are not really any more traction than turf tires especially in wet grass or snow I can attest to that from my own experiences with my 2 compact 4wd tractors without chains and front axle locked in they just spin like turfs.

That's what I'm seeing for the deestone ag tires.
