I have always wanted one and never had one.  Still want one but now I don't know why.  UNLESS it will run on kero.  Kero keeps much longer than gas/ethanol!  I went through a 100 year ice storm and a 100 year flood in about a one year.  Changed my thinking a bit.

Dunno what was your thing,

but i learned the hard Way if you like to do a thing - do it right now.

There can may be not a tomorrow where you can do it.

Live Once but do it right now.

As I age I have tried to say "Later." less often and I am doing more in the now.  But my wishes keep changing too.  Don't need a hit or miss. Running out of room.  But if it ran on kero I could justify it.  Maybe...

But yes, I recommended a good dose of "Live now!"!  I've watched as many others no longer can...

I've read that!  During the winter you either had to drain them or run them.

Thanks Mike.

I was on McMaster Carr looking for something else and I saw that they sold handles and knobs so I scrolled down through their assortment....

Mcmaster Carr is as bad an addiction as Wheel Horses! I cant go on there and order something without going full 'squirrel' and putting things in the cart I didnt even know existed.

When my dad worked at GM, he was a machine repairman and they forbid him to order fasteners from McMaster, they were too expensive.

Unless the machine would be down for an extended period of time, then it was OK. Production first!

Overall I would absolutely agree with that.

I try to be as frugal as possible with most things and make purchases that will benefit us in the long run.

Most things on McMaster I wouldn't buy because of pricing but if I need something that's going to be good quality and the correct size, that's where I go.

One of my personal values in life is to find the value in any given purchase.

My grandparents were 10 or 11 years old when the Great Depression hit. They learned very early in life that something inexpensive is often something also cheap and those can be two very very different words.

And now we have adjusted our standards to accept the later!! Kinda sad!

I was born in 66 and when I was little my folks bought a Zenith TV from a cousin that was going to vietnam if I remember right and paid $600. They borrowed $6,000 to build the little new house they lived in, so let that sink in!!

We used that TV for over 20 years. Now we just want something to last a few years and throw it away!!

I guess you can't make money making products like that and nobody want to pay for that quality either!

McMaster Carr is a little bit pricey but I use them from time to time. The thing that amazes me is that if I order before close of business on one day, it shows up on my front porch the very next day.

We ordered something at work one morning from grainger. It was at the shop on the ups truck that afternoon. I was impressed. Although it was only 20 miles from our shop to the orlando grainger warehouse, I still thought that was remarkable being it had to pass through many hands. If we had a parts driver we would have had it sooner but they had laid him off years ago. 😂

McMaster is not the cheapest...but the stuff is excellent quality, shipping is very fast and reasonable.  When it is a 20 mile round trip to the local (expensive) hardware store to find out they are out of a bolt you need :(...Well Mcmaster isn't so expensive.

Got the big Kohler started and warmed up a little this afternoon.

Ran it for maybe 10 minutes?

I just wanted to see if there were any nasty oil leaks.

Carb needs a tiny bit of adjustment or a little cleaning.

Oil pressure is great.

Runs very smooth.

It's now in the basement workshop to be partially dismantled for The Paint Department to do her magic.

Color still not set in stone.

We've been tossing around the idea of a black block with bright copper sheet metal.

They used a Copper color back in the 60's' That was their standard color then. Kohler standard color back then was Blue. I had a blue 91 Kohler until I painted it red.
