JAinVA 4,617 #1 Posted July 26, 2019 (edited) Here is a picture of our adopted cat Spot using my main mowing tractor as a cat bed.He adopted us not the other way around. This 416-8 was a much neglected and abused machine. The tires were full of fix a flat, the tie rods were shot, the fan gear and steering shaft were worn out.The hood stand showed dents from where a chain was used to secure it on a landscape trailer. It has been used as a true garden tractor this season. It tilled the garden and dug the potato rows at planting.Next week it will dig the rows with a potato plow.It has over 1400 hrs and shows no signs of wanting to quit. The hood says 414 but the original hood was junk. Cee245 742 #2 Posted July 26, 2019 As long as it's not the other way around, 16 cats on 1 horse, THEN it would be a problem. Cory 1
Herder 2,354 #4 Posted July 26, 2019 Sounds like they both got a good home but your not going to get much work out of Spot. I have two cats and two dogs. When the Micky the cat is missing I go check the seats on the tractors and that's where he's found. If one of the tractors is tarped he goes underneath. (cat hose) Nice hard working 416 by the way. 1

peter lena 7,982 #7 Posted July 27, 2019 interesting bed, since i did numerous hot oil changes on my engines, it steadily cleaned out the milky residue of obvious wrong oils used over time. the engines are solid and clean inside and out, i especially like the steady clean look on the oil dip stick, no crud or moisture indication . using rotella 30 wt has really helped . i was thinking about your 1400 plus hours , it would be beneficial to keep that engine as well maintained as you can, complete service on my herd has kept them in line. pete
JAinVA 4,617 #8 Posted July 27, 2019 Thanks Pete, This engine gets regular oil changes.I always make sure that the engine is at operating temp.I have been lucky as the oil is black only and no signs of anything else.It uses some at the the rate of 1/2 quart every 20 hours. This seems to have improved since I have put a good quality straight 30 weight in.It doesn't smoke or make any odd noises so knock on wood.
