What are you mowing with?

C-121 42” RD and a 520-H 60” SD gets it done here. Since i got the 520 the 121 mainly does ditch and bank maintenance

That poor 520 and 60 deck need a bath.......

 

That is a problem with the 60" deck, it is too big to do ditches or sharp banks.

 

However, the 42" works great for that.

The 520 does great with the yard and the bank i mow, but i get the 121 out for the roadsides and the one bank that is steeeep! They are both great machines i like them. Im currently working on a A100 and i believe to be a 1959 or 60 550 suburban

Still use one of the horses for trim/ditch work and the occasional hill but for the bulk of the 3+/- acres a Mahindra eMax 22... @pullstart here's couple more vids

I've been using a 1973 14 no name 8 speed with a 1974 42" SD deck.  Just today, I swapped the SD deck for a 1984 (I think) 42" RD deck. 

 

I've got two properties that have about 30 trees on them and I also mow the neighbor's lot that only has a garage and one tree on it.  All told somewhere between one and two acres.

My main grass cutter is a 520h with 355 hrs. Rotated between a 314h 42” deck, classic gt 42” deck, Kubota bx1500 w 54” deck, and the 520h 48” deck. The 520h is by far the smoothest and most effective of the group for my rocky clay weed yard.

How does the gravely work? My father has a 1942 gravely L (which is tougher than nails!) what is the motor? It looks like it is made of pretty tough steel? @Zeek

Nothing anymore this year. Took the deck off the 855, and both Horses have the plow blades mounted.

 

Unless we get a bunch of rain again I doubt I'll need to mow again this year.

'82 C-125 and 42" RD takes care of the rest. Hamlet green and lane verges.

Honestly .. I generally mow with a 1988 Sears.. or a 1961 Jacobsen Chief 100.. don't shoot!

When I run the WH. I usually use a WorkHorse GT1848 with a 42"RD.

This is the ZT HD series. I have had zero issues with it which now has about 60 hours on it. I opted for the 26 HP Kohler 7000 Pro engine with auto-choke. That has worked flawlessly as well. I think there had been some issues with earlier auto-choke models, but that has been corrected. You have the option of the Kawasaki engine. Nothing wrong with that engine, but I like the lower tone/sound of the Kohler and two more HP. Just my personal preference. Some of the reviews talked about loose bolts and belt issues. I never had any of those problems.

 

I test drove Gravely, Scag, Cub Cadet, Husqvarna and Bad Boy zero turns in the same price group. The Gravely was just an all around more heavy duty and better riding mower in my opinion. The control bars and seat were better and  the tires are larger than some of the others. Larger tire equates to smoother ride which I needed for pasture. I added a chute blocker for around certain areas, a seat suspension kit and a hitch. In fairness to Husqvarna, their model in my price group was unavailable at the time, but looked nice too. I thought Scag would be the best, but that surprisingly was the crapiest of all of them (small tires, cheap control arm mounts, cheap seat). I liked Bad Boy as well, but there was no dealer that serviced in my area.

Nothing wrong with Kawasaki! (They have come a long way since the 80’s!!) I’m with you on the Kohler! The gravely L has two speeds, fast and faster!!👍

I've had 3 Honda mowers, and they are great!

At the moment I have the Honda mower and a Simpson pressure washer with a Honda engine on it and my wife has a Honda CTX700 motorcycle too.

I've had numerous Honda motorcycles over the years, 7 Honda vehicles, and two snowblowers.  

I have the 520H and a Yamaha YS624W snowblower for snowmoving chores.
