So... Im a traditionalist. I like blued steel and walnut on my guns. I have an early 1970s Colt AR15 A2... its minty and yes I do shoot it.

Saw the kit in the second pic and have been toying with it. What do you guys think.

Leave it "Darth Vader" style or "throw a nice dress on her"

Leave it alone. Keep it original.

Keep it original.

I too like old school firearms.

Wood furniture with High polished blueing is my favorite. When that is how they were originally.

But your Colt looks great.

Another vote for

Leave it original.

I like the wood as well but I like the originality more.

I tend to agree with everyone else, of course it's what makes you happy that truly counts.

I also vote to leave it as is, something about wood furniture on that platform never looked quite right to me, but I have a solution:

Buy another one. Then you can have one with wood and one without 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

Few years ago I was looking for a pocket gun to keep on me when I worked nights at the gas station. Went and picked up a little Charter Arms .38spl, and right before doing the paperwork I saw that they had some 1911s on sale. I told the guy” Hey, I want that one.” He looks distraught for a minute and asked “You mean instead of this one? (Thinking he’s gunna have to redo everything, etc.)”

“No, also.”

”You want to buy both?”

”I’ve got two hands don’t I?”

As my old man used to say:” The answer to the question: “How many guns do you need?” Is always: One more.”

“How many guns do you need?” Is always: One more.” I thought the question is "How many Wheel Horses do you need"----just one more!

I am probably going to get clobbered over this BUT, I do like the way the wood grain looks.  I am more in favor of the traditional style/look of an AR.  So I think you should purchase a second one and dress it up with the wood grain.  I may even do that my self.  Thanks for the planting the seed.

The wood looks great I like it, but you will need your dress uniform on when you use it.
