Sparky-(Admin) 19,532 #1 Posted July 7, 2019 Took a good long ride with my dad today...245 miles. Got up into northern Massachusetts, picked up the Mohawk Trail heading west towards New York. Stopped in Shelbourne Falls, checked out the river, then into North Adams where we headed south to Greylock Mountain. Rode to the top, great views! The Appalachian trail passes thru here, looked like a tough area to hike. It was nice to have a couple pistons pulling me up the mountain . Hiked to the top of the tower where you could see into Vermont or New York. From there we headed south to Pittsfield where we grabbed a quick lunch. Then we rode a section of Rt 20 known as Jacobs Ladder. Love getting out there with my dad, he’s 77 but nowhere near ready to give up his 2 wheeler. He no longer rides a “motorcycle”...his bike is classified as a scooter. But it’s no slouch! His Suzuki Bergman scooter has a 650cc twin, fuel injection, full digital dash and will top out at 110 MPH! Yep, 110 ! 8 6 1

It’s a 2011 VStrom 650. Seat is stock and not all that comfy. I’ve toyed with upgrading the seat but I usually don’t ride as far as I did today.

Daddy Don 889 #6 Posted July 7, 2019 (edited) Glad you got to spend time with your dad. I miss mine all the time but we did do a lot of fishing when we had the chance. Spend all the time you can while you still have him. Looks like a fun trip that both of you went on. Edited July 7, 2019 by Daddy Don

JCM 8,642 #9 Posted July 7, 2019 I usually average only 50-60 miles on a ride, when I bought my 2007 Suzuki DR-Z400S the stock seat was terrible, suzuki offered a Gel seat so I installed that went down the street turned around removed and returned it and ordered a Corbin seat, very hard but after just over 400.00 I tried to like it for 3 years, still hated it, now I have a Sargent Seat and my butt and I are now happy again.
McGrew 460 #10 Posted July 7, 2019 Sparky, My best friend and riding partner bought a new Ducati 1198S a couple years ago. His wife forced him into selling his Ninja after a minor incident. What she did not know was I drove him to the dealership to pick up the 1198 the next day. Did I mention my friend is 78? He is not quite old enough to be my Dad, but I always enjoy riding with him.
