bigcreek 205 #1 Posted June 16, 2019 Could not let em get crushed, this Red Face 310, I thought some one had just painted the hood but discovered 1985 came this way she needs work. Now the commando 8, got out of barn where she sat for 15 years after original owner had passed. She is still on my trailer covered in barn dust. 7 5
ZXT 2,394 #2 Posted June 16, 2019 I might be a tad bit jealous of everyone finding these deals! Looks like you got two great tractors. Do they run?

bigcreek 205 #6 Posted June 16, 2019 Thanks these were two CL finds, 310 was in old mans scrap pile. It’s supposed to run but needs work 100 bucks the commando is original, not sure about the deck that came with it what I’m doing with either still haven’t unloaded the 1968 yet so just like looking at it.

bigcreek 205 #9 Posted June 16, 2019 Tool crib on the commando the pics don’t do the color justice. I’m leaning towards a resto mod with rust retained instead of repaint this is how she was found in barn 2

Lots of very effective ways to bring out the shine...
rjg854 10,722 #11 Posted June 16, 2019 Neither of my 68 Commandos had a hood decal like that one does. Thinking maybe the PO either changed the decal or the hood
bigcreek 205 #12 Posted June 16, 2019 Yes wondered about that the org owner passed 15 years ago his son in law parked it unrunning in barn. It may have had work done or painted. But I need a good plan to bring her back to life. New tires all around. Sadly all of the rotted ones say WH on them
Firebug 267 #13 Posted June 17, 2019 I don’t want to hi jack your post but just had some question/info on the 310. I recently picked up a 310 and was told it was either 85 or 86. In 87 they went away from the k series to a magnum motor. Is that correct? Mine has a black nose, does that make it an 86 since your 85 has a red nose?

RandyLittrell 3,827 #15 Posted June 19, 2019 I have a 85 310 myself and its been a good tractor. I believe 85 was the only year with the red face. Randy
Firebug 267 #16 Posted June 19, 2019 Is that the only year they had the silver background decals too?

Firebug 267 #18 Posted June 20, 2019 There’s something about the red face only a mother could love. Maybe I just got used to seeing that style with the black painted section. Oddly I felt that way about the black hood c series, just didn’t look right to me, till I bought my c85 front end loader. Then I really started liking the style. Maybe that red face will grow on me
