Hello all,. Recently bought a 1993 314-8.  Gonna need some tlc.  I hope I do no not aggravate you guys too much with questions, I just want to do it right.   When attempting to start the tractor , you sometimes have to jiggle the pto lever, then it will fire right up,. Do you think I am looking at a bad pto switch or is there an adjustment? Many thanks as always, dominator

These diagrams will help you understand the different circuits.

Try holding the pto lever back toward you when starting. If that does it you can likely make an adjustment to have switch contact made sooner. I have one that is like that and have not fixed it. I am the only one that knows how to start it.

There are two switches next to each other. One controls the starter circuit and the other the ignition circuit.

The pto switches are item #20 on this diagram

Sounds like the safety switch on the pto

lever. My 312-8 did the same thing.
