Felix 145 #1 Posted May 15, 2019 Just got the brake band of to replace the friction material. I’ve read that a leather belt bonded to the band is good. What’s the best way of bonding the leather to the metal band? Any good recommendations for glue? While I was doing this job I noticed the wheel hub is rubbing on the transmission casing. There is slight play in the wheel bearing I would say. And a small amount of end float on the half shaft. Is anything to worry about? Thanks guys.

Change the seal if leaking behind the hub. im in the uk, That’s the trouble. Theres no leaking from the hub. It’s just the hub is touching the gearbox casing. Could the hub be moved away by slackening of the Grub screw that holds the hub to the half shaft?
The Tuul Crib 7,332 #5 Posted May 15, 2019 (edited) I always bring the hub out to match flush with the end of the axle shaft. That should give the space between the housing and the hub. Edited May 15, 2019 by The Tool Crib 1

I’ll have a go at pulling the hub out. Maybe easier said than done 😬
Lee1977 6,217 #7 Posted May 15, 2019 You will need a new set screw as the cup point gets worn off and will not hold. Get two set screws and add another at 90 degrees to the first one.
