That was my first thought, but the ones I’ve looked at have had several reviews that stated they were North American Convergent lady bugs, and not the asiatic. 

 

I may just try it...

 

I see now you mean coming into the house.... the Asian lady bites if I remember correctly, and we never got bitten 🤷🏻‍♂️

Neat topic, I got into saving irises.    my grandparents on the property had a bunch years ago.  last fall I weeded/thinned out what I could.  was able to get a bunch to bloom along with the ones I moved up here from my old house.  these in picture have been here since the early 50s

I do know this is London Pride. Spreads well and keeps the weeds down.

Irises, roses,  medium phlox, hens and chickens, black eyed Suzie's, mysterious bird deposited plants, torch lily and various other lilies. Shasta daisies. Yellow daisies. Clematis climbing up a ladder.

With all the rain we’ve had, I haven’t been able to more than a day or so of work out in the yard at a time, but all the rain as made everything EXPLODE. 

 

Of course, the weeds have exploded too. 

My Concord is so heavily laden that the wires of the arbor are sagging, but with the wet conditions I may lose the whole harvest to black rot. 

Sawflies have been an issue this year for the roses, they’ve killed the Ebb Tide (purple flowered) rose. That’s 45 dollars down the drain 😡.  Japanese beetles have made their appearance this past week as well.

I usually pick them off and throw em in the fish tank.... saves money on fish food and the fish seem to enjoy em 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

I’ve never seen them eat one, but I also didn’t have any issues with them when I had chickens 🤔

 

my hens would peck and scratch for grubs, even killed a mole once, so my bet would be that they eat the grubs they can find. 

 

The grubs also make good bait

And wouldn’t ya know it:  2 years I spent in Japan and never saw a single Japanese Beetle 😂

 

They're not destructive there because they have natural predators, here they don’t.

 Here’s a strange variety that has grown up in our neighborhood. This is from a friends farm back behind me. The butterflies seem to really enjoy it can you tell me what it is?

I know I’ve seen it before, just not where, and I haven’t found it in any of my books yet.  I’ll keep looking. Almost looks like a type of Bee Balm

@The Tool Crib, I still haven’t been able to figure out exactly what that is, but it kind of looks like a decorative/variety of Phlox maybe.

You need more dirt. I know you don't have much of it holding the rocks together.  Might have to have a load shipped in.

We did actually do just that.

I went and got a yard of Loam and it sized about right.

My dad passed away a few years ago and mom couldn't stay here. So, I inherited the place and have lived here about three years, now. 

 

The rose Dad bought for mom just before he died did not make it, a fungus thing. I finally found another one at Lowe's and it's going to be away from the rose of sharons so it gets the chance to dry out. 

 

 

Maybe we should set up some kind of exchange system? 

 

I have like three colors of rose of sharons, daylilies, tiger lillies ( wife calls them tree lillies), and surprise lillies (wife calls them naked ladies). And probably daffodils.
