Ive been wanting to do this! How hard is it? And what is needed! It looks pretty simple.

it is.  Big plastic drum/container, old fashioned battery charger (some new ones won't work unless they sense a battery),  Some scrap steel  I use disc brake rotors, and a box of Washing Soda (not baking soda)

So I have 3 out of 5 good bushings, with the the bushing blocks, these bushings are more of a spacer, 1/32 flange keeps e-clips side to side play tight. I found those (gold plated 7879 bushings) for $12 apiece at Toro. But may try Mc Masters nylon ones, thanks for info. Found some brass bushings that are close, but have to modify the OD to 5/8 and flange to 1/32

The electrolysis tank works good, helps to get all the grease off first. Using rebar for cheap sacrificel metal, 12v battery charger,  arm and hammer washing soda

@bottjernat1 keeping in mind the anode should be in line with the paint/rust on the part...  one anode in the side would be less effective than numerous anodes like pictured above. I used a 4” wide strip of steel bent in a U with a brake rotor welded to the center in the bottom of my tub for the most effective / quick anode coverage, but still had to rotate parts.

I would find some bar stock and

Tool crib, got some crs for spindle, so once I cut the weld, the spindle press out and back in. Does alignment stay?

So got the egg shaped holes welded up, used a 9/16 brass rod and welded around it. Started to make new cross brackets for front axle out of 1/4" but think I'll go with 1/2".

I looked at the thin metal bushings 7879 as most of mine were worn out...but $15.40 too much!!  Where did you get yours??  I am going with some nylon ones from McMaster.

So took a look at those bushings and found these. Looks like these are close to wh 5983, used on cam plate on motion control # 106 in gt14 parts manual, what do you think?

Nice find.  McMaster has so much stuff and i am never sure what it is called. Edit  #2 one thing just measured the side plates on my GT14  steel is .1425 thick.  If I read the chart right these only work on metal up to .135 thick

Misread your post it should work on the neutral cam plate.  Will not work on the motion control cross shaft as the side plates are too thick

Edit #1 But I am going to add some to my next McMaster order.  They will work great on my Charger/electros.  Side panels are thinner .075

Got those grommets and thay fit, seem to snap in to place. Fits the neutral cam plate too. The brake lever pivot pins were worn so ground welds, welded in new pins, added brass bushing to parking brake lever. We'll see if it will help with wear. Mocking up motion control lever, have to get new spring for cam plate and brake linkage. All the linkage works really smooth so far. Still waiting for a few more bushings and grommets. Still have to find a machine shop drill out axle and spindles for bronze bushings.

Did a little work on the frame cross member,  tried to grind the spindle welds, and tried 1" 1/8 hole saw, (1st pic ). Then tried 1", cut it easily,  will bring to a friends to press them out.

Did some work on mule drive, adj knob broke off , had a double nut on threaded rod, will make a new one. Looks like this thing took a good hit, bent front plate, cross rod bent, its been a little cold for sandblasting so it will have to wait. Putting bushings on neutral control pedal and linkage rods ends needed to be a little longer, so welded ends up, got them ground down to about .010 . Was going to braze the ends and file to size, but can't find welding tip. Went to harbor freight got  #2 and a #4 tip. 11/2 he round trip, here we go, put on new tip , turn on acetylene fire it up, turn on oxygen nothing,  tomorrow 2hr round trip to fill tank.:angry-banghead:

And made a jig to press out the spindles and one to press on. Made a new steering fan gear shaft.

Does anyone know if tractor ID tags are being reproduced.  I have seen Kohler engine I'd tags with blank spot  were # go. Placed over orginal tag lining up the #'s. Mine got sandblasted clean. Have one off my mower deck to compare.

I had Terry (redoyourhorse.com) make a decal of one for me and I just made a new tag. Put the original one away. Couldn’t read anything on it but the model number. The serial number was gone so I used my dad’s birthday, kind of a small tribute. Not sure what the big hole was for but it was in the original one so I put it in this one.

If you are asking me about the rebuilt tranny, I appreciate the offer but I really want to put an 8 speed in mine. :happy-partydance:
