Show us the rest of the build and installation.

What size OD is the pipe verses ID of the stack?

Will it have centering rings

:text-yeahthat:Nice Dan :handgestures-thumbupright: ... we used to call them church key baffles cause some looked like they were made with a church key! We used to slide a set down the drag pipes of our iron barrel Sportsters. Not that they quieted things down a whole lot but it gave an officer of the law :law-policered: something to stop his night stick against when we got pulled over for loud pipes!

Looks like you saved yourself a bit of money for what they get for some now...

I was thinking of getting one of  Jim Kemp's stacks for a tractor but now thinking of making my own??? Paint it and put some flames on it?!? :ychain:

Looks like you are using run of the mill auto exhaust pipe?

Any thoughts on wrapping them with fiberglass things are still a little loud?

It is regular auto exhaust pipe, It will be covered with a nice chrome stack though.

My plan is to make the baffle removable, This way if it is too loud yet I can pursue the fiberglass option.

It may be a couple of weeks before I can finish the stack but I will definitely share it with you.

The inner pipe is 1 3/4" the outer pipe will be 2 1/2". I would have liked to go a little larger on the stack but space will not allow for this.

No plans for center rings

Another masterpiece from the maestro!!!

Well done Dan.  I can’t wait to hear/see/drive this one when complete.  I’m also interested to see the functionality of this pipe versus the one you made for your plow mule raider...

Necessity, once again, Is the mother of invention!

Cool work,

a question i have Dan,

The exhaust system like you planing was a frequency filter.

At your picts i just see only identical distances,

so do you just preferr to filtering one rpm in silencing? (workrpm)

Think i would work with lightly increasing distances,

so that the Filter works over more octaves,

means it works with a wider bandwith

or in other words  it works on different rpm‘s

the peak shall be your workrpm, so i understand your muffler.

In my experiences and experiments on my Quadbike exhaust i learned, the max silencing

not allway’s is in the center of the whole frequencies (rpm) bandwith.

but can be shifted up or down with a movable shiftin piece inside.

Resonance needs it space to supress the noise.

But cool work you did by the exchangeability of the silencer.

I have no doubt that this pipe will still be loud, and I'm ok with that. I just wanted to tone it down some. My original plan was to just run 1 3/4" straight pipe, so I ran the engine with one on. It was unbearable and had a very high pitched rap that I didn't like. I sort of designed my baffle like after market slide in ones used on motorcycles. It will give some back pressure and hopefully the 2 1/2" pipe will help mellow the tone.

Hopefully I will be able to hear the results of my experiment soon.:)

Nice job Dan , I like it , how much does that chrome stack cost , there hard to find at a decent price , I know the ones I use for mine they keep raising the price to the point of any higher price on the chrome they wont be worth building , But nice work on your design

They didn't give it to me, that's for sure.:D kinda felt bad to cut a foot off of it.

https://www.iowa80.com/pd/25d-x-36l-chrome-curved-top-stack-expanded-end/10014/

I agree with you on the price of chrome pipes. I did find some cheaper ones but they were just that,a thin POS with poor chrome.

I did get a chance to run the tractor with the stack. As suspected by the shear design (no room for the exhaust to resonate) it is not real quiet. It does give my diesel engine a very nice sound though, much better than it had with the 1 3/4" strait pipe that I had tried on it.
