My new horses

Wheelhorse Wes

Just got my new horses home....

1959 RJ and a 1961 701....someone in this world needs a kick in the horsy stones for cutting up an original 701 hood.

good thing I’ve got a mint front nose to weld in.

gentlman in Ohio I bought these rusty gems from drove for wheel horse back in the 1970’s did the trucking from the plant in Indiana to Ohio....thought that was pretty awesome...come summer time I’m buying two 854’s off him....my collection keeps getting bigger.

a question out there to everyone. I’ll need the wide starter generator cover and double pulley starter generator...eventually CB459F64-2CDA-4FB9-9610-AF1040351711.jpeg.5bc07b3ffc1fb5c2aea7d35f0e01a5d9.jpeg

Nice score....but WOW!!...what the heck happened in the past for that 701 hood to be butchered like that :eusa-think: .

Really digging the rear tires on the RJ.

Were the back tires on the RJ an option back in the day or was it just someone putting on whatever was available at the time. There is only a few pictures on the Internet with early wheelhorse tractors with that style (golf course) looking tires

Nothing really special about those rear diamond tread rear turfs...

that I'm aware of...other than, you just don't see that many of them surviving these days.

I've got a couple sets of them sitting around here.

from the images you've provided, I see lot's to love about that little guy.

I agree I would have bought the RJ just for bragging rights on tires. They are cool. Some guys should not be aloud to have cutting tools.

WHNJ701

I would still save that hood.

those tread styles were an option on the porter cable tractors too which were 1958-1960

Wow!!! Nice score!

:banana-rock:

I love the story that you were a trucker back and forth from Indiana and Ohio back in the day.

ya there’s no cracks in the tires so the rims are going to get painted. The first words out of My buddy mouth when I sent him pics of my RJ was I want to buy them cuz they are cool.... I said not for sale.

but to reply about the 701 hood. I will be fixing it but with another nose...same nose but not destroyed. Thanks for all the comments 👍

Reel Mower Freak

Nice pick up Wes. You need more storage room for the growing herd. Have you had any action on your Kijiji ads? Chris

No not much action on my kijiji ads at all really. I sold the 8 speed tranny out of the parts C-100 and a few parts and dash tower from the 875 parts tractor I have. I still have everything else.....I really need to sell my commando 8 and the C-120 though

Brought home this 603....drive 10 hours 1 way to get we. Had to take it apart to get it in the back of the wife’s Jeep....better on gas for the long trip then my truck....the reel mower is in tough shape but it’s original to the tractor the guy told me

. Nice :wh: score.

Kinda makes me miss my reel mower, as I had one of that model too. Notice it uses virtually the same belt guard as an RJ-58.

I’m planning on going to the big Wheelhorse show in June like the rest of us on here lol but I’m going to be bringing that reel mower to sell since it’s in tough shape and I’ll never use it....

Yes it is such a shame that someone cut the hood on my 701.....anyone out there have a starter generator double pulley or a belt guard for my 701?
