Transaxle that will fit in a 71 800 special

Anyone know if it’s possible to put a different transaxle in my 1971 800 special? And if so what could I replace the peerless 1200 with to make it better? Thanks!

The boxed frame design that supported the Peerless transmission was limited to the 1971 800 Special and the 1974 A-90Special.

I thought of doing the same thing to my 800 Special.  I think the easiest way is to get another frame.

This Wheelhorse has been in the family since new, I'd be okay reusing the sheet metal with a different

fame to keep the sentimental value.   Cross reference the sheet metal parts to see which models that

used a uni-drive would be compatible.  Or you might weld the back part of the frame to what you have.
