My 953

Hello!

That's a beauty of a tractor.  Nice to have all the history on it.  I also prefer to keep things as original as possible with exceptions made to cover raw metal and rehab rust and deterioration.

Thise rear wheel weightssure are unique.   I'm by no means a Wheel Horse expert but I don't think I've seen any that look like that before.  Kinda reminds me of the bogie wheels on a tank.   They look pretty stout.

Cheers!

I have tried for a year now to id these weights nobody knows what they where for!  They fit perfect tho. i am in the process of finding original weights. These weights have no stamping on them that i have found yet. I have this old girl stored inside right now i need to get the hydraulic cylinder under it fixed. she leaks not to bad but if she sits she starts leaving a puddle.

:WRS:   Nice looking 953 and I see it marks its territory too.  You can find links here on RedSquare for seal or rebuild kits for the lift cylinder and pump.  Thanks for the pics.

Congratulations, you have a very nice early production first generation 953. Seals for the lift cylinder can be purchased here, https://www.wheelhorsepartsandmore.com/ and if you are looking for a new seat contact @BOB ELLISON. For the center cap for your steering wheel contact @GlenPettit.

Nice horse. Good to have originals on here for more “go to” pictures. Good luck with it and hope to see more of it.👍

5 big wheels, in various forms or stages.  One with melted wiring, one runner, one in need of an engine, one full project and one in the middle of nap time.  @953 nut thanks again for turning on my big wheel switch!

Got a 953 and 414-8 from Big Red Fred the other day. Got a great deal on both of them. Both run great and I am very pleased with them. Got the 414 for my grandpa and the 953 was just to good of a deal to pass up, so now I got another tractor in my collection

This 953 that we have dubbed “Hot Wheels has quickly become a go to tractor for myself... and my kids especially!  The increased visibility, the feeling of a big tractor, the hydraulics, who knows what really makes it so different from the rest.  Now that the Magnum 12 roars to life so easy, it’s that more attractive to jump on and take a stroll or do some chores!

Here are some pictures from this morning, checking my food plot after some sprinkler time and a few days of good soaker rain showers.  I’ll try to keep this thread active as photo ops present themselves.

Boys, having problems with the front wheel alignment on my 1054a.  Seems as tho the tie rod is about 1/2" or so too short causing the front tires to pigeon toe.  Tore everything apart can find nothing wrong or bent.  According to WH parts diagrams, the 953 and 1054 tie rods are the same part number.  Perhaps one of you good fellas could give me the measurements of your tie rods so I can verify mines the correct length?  Maybe something else Im missing here?

      Thanks,
      Mike
