310-8 rear fender opening

what is the large(4"x6") opening in the rear fender under the seat for? was there a drop in tool tray for this opening?

Good question. I'd like to know myself. I've one in the same place on my C-125. Though I think the fender is a replacement for an original plastic one.

that's for basic operational check on shifter boot, wire routing and view points to look for problems . you can see the drive belt area the clutch linkage . I use it regularly to keep an eye on things. just a good access point , between that and the lower dash plate ,and shifter gate ,you can look inside at service areas. pete

My guess is that the hole is used for location in the fender forming process. I would think that there are least three different stampings to complete the fender.

With the hydro trans. You use this to access the hydro linkage.
