MTD 10/24 2 Stage Snowblower

Recommended Posts

Pullstart

My late Grandfather’s snowblower has bounced around the family since 2005.  I have no idea how long since the oil was changed, and for the last year or two it hasn’t run.  My father in law put a new carb on it, had it running ok then a tire blew out and I dropped off my spare plow truck to him instead.  Now, my sister in-law and her husband bought a place in the country and I offered this beast to help them out.  Well tonight, I verified it had spark, pulled the carb and brake cleaned it, popped it back together and with some ear-dyno tuning that Tecky is a screamer again!  Warmed it up good, drained the oil and topped it off with fresh synthetic.  It’s ready for another season of snow blasting, once the new ag tires show up in a couple days.

(it’s too late and cold to run ou and get pictures, sorry)

Well done Sir.

We have a similar one here.

It's been reliable and powerful for it's size.

Sally...:ychain::lol:

I got about the same machine that was my wife's dad's. She still uses it for cleanup work.   Tecky always starts first pull you primer/choke/throttle just right. Never figured out why they put 115 electric start on them, I be blowin snow by the time to get cords out! Why these sno champ labeled Teckys run so good when the older ones on our tractors are so much trouble :confusion-confused:

Probably for Grampa, he was 91 and still workin but (though I’d never test him) I imagine his pull strength just wasn’t there :handgestures-thumbupright:

Maybe it’s the swept intake on it?  Makes me want to look for another non runner just to strip the engine from it at the least!

And with enough clamp pressure, the tire’s mounted in a jiffy!

Well, it’s on to a new home.  My brother in-law picked it up...  I told him to keep it as long as he’d like, but if he ever decides he doesn’t want it anymore, I’ll be on my way to get it.  Now on to hunt for another MTD non-runner!
