Prayers please

Many of you know about Emory’s stroke.  Now that he is 10, we are starting to see some of the other effects.  We recently visited his doctors at UVA.  I got a call last Tuesday updating me on his most recent tests.  His X-rays showed that he is in the early stages of hip displacement with thin bones in his right hip and is at risk of fracture.  We go to orthopedic specialists in March.  We were told not to limit his activity and are hopeful since they are waiting 4 months for the visit.  I’m not sure what the treatment will be, but hope it will not be too invasive.  We’re not telling him because he would worry himself to death.  Just please keep him In your prayers.  I only wish I could take everything off of him.  I’d much rather go through this than see him having to.  I know people may think I’m nuts getting him another tractor, but that’s something he enjoys and we enjoy together.  Kind of hard with as tough of a little guy as he is, not to spoil him a little.

I don't think anyone here will think you are nuts for buying him another tractor, after all that is why we are all here. It's because these little tractors make us happy. Prayers for you and your family.

It is always tougher when it is your child. You would do anything to transfer the pain to you. If he is being seen at UVA Medical you could not ask for more.I can say from experience that they are first rate..Best wishes and know that we all hope for the best outcome.Regards,JimAnderson

Thanks guys.  This has really hit me hard.  We really don’t know much yet and won’t until our visit in March.  It has just got me worrying and running through scenarios in my mind and I keep telling myself they are just that - scenarios.  I hope this will be easy to manage with preventive care and hopefully non surgical care.  I pray every day to let me take his problems and pain as my own and away from him.  @stevebo thanks and I have to agree he is a great kid.  He’s so strong to have been through so much.  He’s my world!

Emory, yourself and your family will most definitely be in prayers here. I hope for the best for you all and also getting another tractor is never a crazy idea.

Dell, Emory’s face shines like a lightening bug around these tractors.  If it helps (you) keep his mind away from worries, then so be it.  We went through some kidney struggles this summer with little Rylee too, a few days in the hospital were not what we planned for but it’s what it took to fight her infection.  We go mid December for a check up and hope for good news.  It’s tough to be a daddy to a little one with hurts and struggles.  You are a good dad, helping him with what he loves!  My prayers have been of thankfulness lately, but I’ll add some for healing in there too.

Best wishes for you and yours,

Kev

Father in Heaven, you are the giver of life and the great physician.

You know our needs and wants. Please heal Emory and comfort his family. We know that his body has been damaged by stroke, we know that with your healing hand on him Emory will build strong bones and live a long healthy life. We also know that you can make him whole again, you can repair damaged tissue, you can enable him to continue to serve you on this Earth.

Lord, hear my petition. Be with his father and mother and all family as they experience this storm in their lives. I don’t always understand your plan for us, but I do trust that you work all things for the good. I only ask that it be your will to give Emory good health.

I ask these things in the name of your Son and my Savior, Jesus Christ. All glory and honor belong to you.
Amen.

Kids are amazing creatures. My oldest grandson was born with a genetic disorder. Among the many things wrong was a heart valve problem that would require open heart surgery at age 8. He went to Johns Hopkins for his surgery. It was successful and he just celebrated his 15th birthday on Saturday. My point here is that kids are tough. They seem to handle things better than we elders. We all want our children to be pain-free and not to suffer and I said at the time that if I could take his place, I would.  But that kind of surgery probably would have killed me. On the other hand, my grandson weathered it like a trooper and was walking out of the hospital three days later. Kids are tough. I'm sure Emory will do well.

Having said that, Emory and your family will be in my thoughts.
