Clutch Pedal "Bounce"

Recommended Posts

Tankman

My '90 520-8 running fine. I'm just "bothered" by some clutch pedal bounce.

The clutch pedal while sitting bounces 'bout an inch, back 'n forth. Not hurting anything just bothers me.

Thinking my damper cylinder ($$-Ouch-$$) or clutch spring is kaput. OK, any ideas?  :confusion-confused:

How's the belt? Chunk out or rough spot.also a well worn belt deep in the pulley can do it too

Squonk, belt is new. Pulleys are fine.

Thinking “damper or spring”.

Otherwise runs fine regardless of the slight pedal “bounce.”

The damper cylinder is priced “out of this world”, perhaps an inexpensive substitute?

Napa also can get many sizes. Take the old one off get the closed and extended length. Possibly the pressure rating will be on it. And show them the mounting style.

Could be just grabbing a little...once in a while.  Try cleaning the pulleys with mineral spirits after some steel wool.  :handgestures-thumbupright:

I don't remember whether my C-120 clutch pedal bounced or not, but when depressed it made a hell of a racket. The shaft rod had worn the hole in the frame out. I drilled them out and installed oillite bushings. It's real quite now when depressed.
