r356c 375 #1 Posted October 19, 2018 Hellboud no doubt for this observation. The young lady next door always gets a few boxes of Thin Mints offloaded my way each year. https://www.forbes.com/sites/brucelee/2016/02/27/girl-scouts-cookie-pushers-contributing-to-obesity/#1e85e6372874 https://www.wftv.com/news/trending-now/canadian-girl-guide-9-sells-out-of-cookies-in-front-of-cannabis-store/855738496
roadapples 6,981 #2 Posted October 19, 2018 Never thought girl scout cookies were that good but always bought a few boxes to help the kids. They get .84 cents per box and the CEO makes nearly four hundred grand a year...
KC9KAS 4,741 #3 Posted October 19, 2018 The local scouts, band members and everyone else selling "Fund Raiser" merchandise get a very, very small portion of the actual cost of the item. If you were to make a $10 donation to them directly they would make $10, not a measly 5%! 2
Pullstart 59,563 #4 Posted October 20, 2018 One of my daughters just joined, that was one of my first questions to her. Do you know how much of the money you raise goes to you or your troop? Sad to hear so little goes to it. I might have a chat with my wife about donation options instead of purchase options on the next fund raising go round.
r356c 375 #5 Posted October 21, 2018 (edited) 5% !!!??? Yep, I'll donate 3 boxes worth to the local troop and decline the boxes of (delicious) cookies this time around. The tradition of Girl Scouts and cookies is pretty cool though. Edit: Maybe 2 boxes donation and one box to take home.
